4) Take the COMPASS placement test at the MCC-BTC library or any MCC campus testing center. Visit mcckc.edu/testing for dates, times and sample questions.

Students must place into the following areas or successfully complete the required prerequisite courses prior to beginning the program:

5) Personal interviews will be scheduled for the top 60 applicants based on testing and resume. NO INTERVIEW WILL BE SCHEDULED IF YOU HAVE NOT TAKEN THE COMPASS TEST.

Drug and Alcohol Testing Notice:A lineman apprenticeship will require the operation of equipment requiring a commercial driver’s license (CDL). A motor vehicle records check will be conducted on your driving record to confirm you have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. You are subject to random alcohol testing under Department of Transportation regulations. If offered a position in the program, you will be tested for the use of illegal drugs prior to beginning, and are subject to periodic unannounced random drug testing throughout the duration of the program. A determination of illegal drug use will result in non-selection and withdrawal, based upon your failure to meet the requirements of the program. Taking this into consideration, drug testing will be required for this certification.
