  • ELECTRIC LOCO SHED, GHAZIABAD

    Electric Loco Shed, Ghaziabad was set up at an initial Capital cost of Rs. 1.5 Cr. in Feb 1976 by Railway Electrification Organisation as a part of TUNDLA-DELHI electrification scheme basically to cater electric locomotive requirements for hauling important Mail/Express trains on DELHI-HOWRAH section. Initially shed was designed to home 50 locomotives. Subsequently loco holding capacity enhanced to home 120 locos.ELS/GZB is spread over 18105 m2 of with 8910 m2 ELS/GZB is spread over 18105 m2 of with 8910 m2 covered area and now maintaining 176 electric locomotives.

    Distinguishing Features

    Shed established & inaugurated in 1976 by the then honble MR Shri Kamlapati Tripathi.

    Initial capital cost rs.1.5 cr. Initial loco holding 34 Maximum coaching loco holding for any shed

  • First to home 3 phase coaching locomotives.Only loco shed in INDIA homing WAP-5 locomotives.Fastest train BHOPAL SHATABDI EXPRESS running at 150 kmph is hauled by WAP-5 locomotives.

    Electric Locomotives maintained 184 electric locomotives comprising of 87

    conventional and 97 based on State-of-the-Artthree phase technology are presently beingmaintained at Electric loco shed, Ghaziabad.maintained at Electric loco shed, Ghaziabad.Type wise holding of locomotives as on26/07/2011 is as under:
