What is on-site generation (OSG)?
OSG gives power to the user
The amount you need, when you need it, and where you need it.
Eliminates storage and handling of hazardous chemicals.

Water Power Chlorine
OSG reduces carbon emissions12% bleach is 88% water. It takes almost 5 deliveries of bulk bleach
to equal the same amount of disinfectant generated by a single
delivery of salt
 Storage footprint reduction
No disposal of empty chemical containers

The combination of factors leading to optimal oxidant efficacy and duration is a key trade secret

► Traditional measurements of the additional oxidant(s) in MOS has not been
successful
• Chlorine is a strong oxidant and interferes with measurement
► There are a small number of known compounds formed from reactions of NaCl
and H2O
Through partnership with academia and internal research,
hydrogen peroxide (H2O2 ) is the additional oxidant in MOS

Microflocculation is a pretreatment mechanism resulting in:
A reduction in coagulant demand for the same final (filtered water) turbidity
OR a reduction in final turbidity at the same coagulant demand.
What is Microflocculation?
Pretreatment with MIOX Mixed Oxidants may
induce the microflocculation effect, which improves:
 Coagulation
 Flocculation
 Settling-clarification
 Filtration
These process improvements may:
 Reduce chemical costs
 Reduce system downtime
 Improve system performance
MIOX Customers Report:
Larger floc that forms more rapidly, even at
colder temperatures
Heavier floc that is conducive to good settling
compared to chlorine dioxide and chlorine in
pretreatment
Reductions of up to 40% in required coagulant
and flocculent
 Reductions of disinfection by-product (DBP)
formation due to better organic precursor
removal
Improved filter run time; reduced down time
Turbidity reduced using less Aqualum

Biofilm: Communities of microorganisms encased within an
extracellular polymeric slime (EPS) matrix living on
surfaces.
 Typically composed of many
species of microorganisms,
including bacteria fungi, algae
and protozoa.
 Difficult to remove once initial
adhesion occurs.
 Found in aqueous environments
and are often resistant to disinfection.
Can shelter disease-causing microorganisms, such as
Legionella, Listeria, and temperature resistant bacterial
spores.

2007 with MIOX
 Disinfection is for:
 Beverages (dechlorinate
afterwards)
− Juice
− Carbonated beverage

 Filter backwash
 Cooling towers
Before MIOX
After MIOX
Gradual reduction in biofilms in the clearwells and distribution
Chlorine residual stability allowed lower mixed oxidant solution dosing at the plant
TTHM and HAA5 concentrations steadily declined
Conversion from chloramination using chlorine gas and anhydrous ammonia (gas) to FAC as MOS resulted in improved plant safety and chemical cost savings
