It is about the Lost City of Z and how Percy Harrison Fawcett tried to find it.

But he disappeared with his son and his son’s friend.

So a guy from New York tries to find them. But doesn’t.

So the City of Z is sort of like El Dorado.

The first reference to El Dorado was referencing the actual man.

This man was named Dorado and was a Muisca tribal chief who covered himself with gold dust.

After that, he dived into Lake Guatavita, which is located in Colombia.Lake Guatavita

talking about El Dorado was written by Juan Rodriguez Freyle.

He is the author of the chronicle titled The Ram.

It was only talking about the person, but people took it literally as the golden city itself.

Famous FailThere have been many

attempts to find El Dorado.

The most famous expedition was that of Gonzalo Pizarro, which failed miserably.

However, on the same expedition, Francisco de Orellana was the first to journey the entire Amazon River to the Atlantic Ocean.

So it was not a total fail.

These are in books such as Paradise Lost by John Milton and Candide by Voltaire.

It is referenced in Edgar Allen Poe’s poem Eldorado.

El Dorado has also come to mean something that is desirable but not attainable.
