TOP 10 COOPERATION STORIES

We are happy to present our most successful cooperation stories that started out as academic assignments in the Estonian Academy of Arts and grew into product development projects which have later been implemented in the business activity of enterprises or organisations. With each story, we highlight to executer of the project within the academy and the department involved in the process, and the additional value that the enterprise or organisation gained in terms of development with the given project.

The top 10 Cooperation Stories is an overview of the most interesting and successful cooperation projects within the past five years, prepared for the 100th anniversary of the Estonian Academy of Arts celebrated from September 2014 to August 2015.

wOODEN ShElTERS IN ThE PEDASPEA hIKINg TRAIl IN lAhEmAA

The project for the creation of shelters, which has already lasted for eight years, constitutes a part of the architectural studies at the eaa. In cooperation with the Estonian Forest and Wood Industries Association, the following shelters have been created: Kiik, Torn, Luik, Kolm, Spin, Varing, Laas, and Tsikuraat. The park of shelters which has been built in the coastal hiking trail of Pedaspea is a fun place for adventurers in all ages, because it is possible to climb on the shelters, walk on them, hide away in them, and even swing on them. This long-term project has served as a basis for cooperation with different partners, for example architectural and engineering bureaus, suppliers of building materials, and transport, accommodation and catering enterprises. During all these years, the construction of these shelters has been supported by the Cultural Endowment of Estonia. Another major supporter is Puuinfo (Tree Information).

The students of the eaa have organised the erki Fashion Show ever since 1982. Today, this event is still organised by students, but it has become one of the most important and fascinating fashion demonstrations in Estonia. This fashion spectacle involves cooperation with many different partners. For instance, in 2014, Kristiine Shopping Centre and Fizz made a remarkable contribution to the organisation of the show. Tradehouse financed the winner’s grant and supported back-stage work with beauty products. Other partners: Tradehouse, rgb, CuuClub, Lejal Genes, Sisetelevisioon, ClearChannel, TrendExpress, Duglas, Kevin Murphy, Wolfprint 3d, Maiasmokk, Sushi House.

erki Fashion Show has used a ticket system developed by the team and programmed by eea graduate Eero Otsus already for three consecutive years. Namely, the guests can purchase a ticket conveniently on the erki Fashion Show’s home page by filling in just a few fields. The ticket package is compiled after the receipt of a confirmation e-mail to the purchase and is then sent to a location chosen by the customer with the Smartpost service. A person will conveniently receive the package and can pay for the delivery by card or in cash at the chosen parcel terminal.
