The Speed Star concept is uniqueTorque densities up to 20 Nm/cm3 per shaft and output shaft speeds up to 1800 rpm are feasible in production, enabling our customers to achieve much greater production output. The gear unit housing has no joins, so leaks are ruled out from the start.

The distributor shafts are specially arranged to make our gear units more compact, and thus save resources. A large inspection hole cover – ideal for checking the state of the unit – is provided on top of it. To ensure high effi ciency, lubricant fl owrates per tooth contact and per bearing are defi ned. For the varying requirements in export markets these units are employed for generating input material for extruders and powder coatings, or for making masterbatches. At the customer’s wish Speed Star gear units for twin-screw extruders can be supplied to com-ply with ATEX, or nickel-plated for pharmaceutical applications.

The tried and tested Speed Star concept is employed for foodstuff extrusion, too. In view of the differences from compounding in the performance and shaft speeds re-quired, gear units for the food industry are developed separately. A special challenge: it must be possible to thoroughly clean the gearing to ensure the production facilities remain sterile. With our R&D department we are an active member of the German FVA (Research Association for Drive Engineering). Membership gives us and our employees access to a vast pool of knowledge about fundamentals, and to the latest fi ndings in dimensioning and simulating toothwork, in tribology, in metallurgy, test facilities and fabrication technology.

100% CONTACT PATTERN UNDER LOADToday’s high-power gear systems involve huge forces acting on toothwork to deform gearshafts and tooth fl anks. We know this kind of deformation, and correct profi le and gear width accordingly.

INNOVATIVE GEAR-SHAPING TECHNOLOGYWe consistently develop gear-shaping technology further, knowing as we do what it takes to satisfy our customers’ requirements as regards durability, vibration levels and effi ciency factors.

GEARING CONCEPTS AND TORQUE SPLITTING SYSTEMSWith compactness in gear systems at a premium, power densities go up and up. To transmit these reliably, the loads are spread over several tooth contacts. The quality of such torque splitting systems depends on gear unit structure and on how machining tolerances, degrees of rigidity, play in bearings and deformation infl uence each other.

Benefi t: minimal space requirements, combined with very substantial torques.

STRUCTURE MECHANICSIf a gear housing deforms, there will be a negative effect on load distribution, and thus on noise levels and wear and tear. Eisenbeiss housings are designed and implemented with substantial structural frames, so they are extremely rigid in the planes affected by loads. The parts of the housing not subject to loading are smaller in design, though.

Benefi t: overall weight is reduced, while rigidity is increased.

GEAR LUBRICATION – LUBRICANT GOES WHERE IT IS NEEDEDLow-pressure, gravity-feed and cascade lubrication are used to get lubricant where it is needed. This way fl uid splashing losses are much lower, external cooling is unnecessary and lubricant consumption is minimized.

Benefi t: dramatic improvement in effi ciency – better use is made of energy.

Eisenbeiss have a wide range of up-to-date machinery in operation. We can respond fl exibly in special-purpose gear engineering because of our high degree of vertical integration. We are very pleased that our production staff satisfy tough requirements as regards production know-how and fl exibility, and maintain Eisenbeiss quality standards on a daily basis.
