With SAP HANA 1.0, customers can can instantly explore and analyze all of their transactional and analytical data from
virtually any data source in real time. Due to real-time replication, operational data from an SAP system can be captured in
memory as business happens. New business content provides immediate access to analytical models and can be flexibly
customized or efficiently developed from scratch.
To expand analysis across the entire organization, data from other systems can be added to analytical models with
Data Services 4.0.
SAP HANA 1.0 is non-invasive to the landscape and all other analytics activities can continue as before.
Note: The growth options for this landscape will build on the next version of HANA which is covered in the next version of

Recommendation 3.2: Manage your master data with
SAP Master Data Governance in SAP ERP 6.05 Baseline
SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) is integral part of SAP ERP 6.0 EhP5 and features out-of-the-box, domain-
specific master data governance applications to centrally create, change and distribute master data with a focus
on SAP Business Suite. Supported domains are financial data, supplier data and material data. Replication to
SAP systems (even before ERP 6.0) is delivered out-of-the-box, the replication to non-SAP system is done via
enterprise services, ALE/iDocs, RFC or file. Leading MDG system is either an existing system or any newly set-
up ERP 6.05 system.
Note: Since SAP Master Data Governance does not support master data consolidation or harmonization, the key
value will be in streamlining business processes (operational MDM) while ensuring master data governance, with
only an implicit effect on enterprise reporting (analytical MDM).

Recommendation 1: Replace non-SAP data warehouse by
an SAP BW 7.3, accelerated by BW Accelerator 7.20 Baseline
SAP NW Business Warehouse 7.3 differentiates from other data warehouses through its strong business focus:
this starts with rich business content for quick implementation and business-oriented modeling patterns
supporting a consistent layered scalable architecture paradigm. Data acquisition is out-of-the-box for SAP
sources and very flexible for non-SAP sources through Data Services 4.0. A highly flexible authorization concept
ensures compliance with any company‟s security guidelines. The enterprise-ready lifecylce management covers
3-tier deployment (Dev/QA/Prod), meta data lifecycle management (like versioning, remodelling, deployment to
prod. environment etc.) and information lifecycle management (like data data aging strategies, Nearline Storage
support and archiving).
SAP NetWeaver BW Accelerator 7.20 facilitates scalability for high-volume data and large end user populations at

Master Data Governance in SAP ERP 6.0 Baseline

Recommendation 3: Leverage in-memory technology for
SAP NetWeaver BW with SAP NW BW Accelerator 7.20 Baseline
SAP NetWeaver BW Accelerator 7.20 boosts BW 7.0 query performance & system scalability even for
very high data volumes.
Delivered as an appliance, BWA 7.20 ensures low cost of operations, does not change the BW user
experience, saves time for BW development and maintenance and allows for lower data latency.
Note: In productive environments, each SAP NetWeaver BW system needs to have its own BWA 7.20

Recommendation 4: Implement operational data marts for SAP
Business Suite or agile data marts for SAP BW with SAP HANA 1.0 Baseline
With SAP HANA 1.0, customers can can instantly explore and analyze all of their transactional and analytical data from
virtually any data source in real time. Due to real-time replication, operational data from an SAP system can be captured in
memory as business happens. New business content provides immediate access to analytical models and can be flexibly
customized or efficiently developed from scratch.
To expand analysis across the entire organization, data from other systems can be added to analytical models with
Data Services 4.0.
SAP HANA 1.0 is non-invasive to the landscape and all other analytics activities can continue as before.
Note: The growth options for this landscape will build on the next version of HANA which is covered in the next version of
this guide.

Recommendation 6.1: Manage your master data with
SAP NetWeaver Master Data Management 7.1 Baseline
SAP NetWeaver Master Data Management 7.1 is geared to consolidate, harmonize and centrally manage master data of
SAP and heterogeneous environments.
SAP NetWeaver BW tightly integrates with SAP NetWeaver MDM 7.1. This enables consolidated reporting in cross-system
environments where MDM is the central hub for harmonized master data as well as reduces costs and gains competitive
advantage through MDM-supported BW analysis scenarios (like vendor evaluation, global spend analysis, top N customer
analysis). Some data warehouses also integrate with SAP NetWeaver MDM 7.1 via the MDM connector and can serve as
master data source and as distribution target.
To accelerate implementation, pre-built content & predefined services of the SAP NetWeaver MDM Rapid Deployment
Solution (RDS) for customer data integration (CDI) can be used.

Recommendation 6.2: Manage your master data with
SAP Master Data Governance in SAP ERP 6.05 Baseline
SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) is integral part of SAP ERP 6.0 EhP5 and features out-of-the-box, domain-
specific master data governance applications to centrally create, change and distribute master data with a focus
on SAP Business Suite. Supported domains are financial data, supplier data and material data.
Replication to SAP systems (even before ERP 6.0) is delivered out-of-the-box, the replication to non-SAP system
is done via enterprise services, ALE/iDocs, RFC or file. Leading MDG system is either an existing system or any
newly set-up ERP 6.05 system.
Note: Since SAP Master Data Governance does not support master data consolidation or harmonization, the key
value will be in streamlining business processes (operational MDM) while ensuring master data governance, with
only an implicit effect on enterprise reporting (analytical MDM).
