Bernie the Bear gets lost in the magic forest: he can’t find the way back to his cave!

Suddenly a blue elf appears, out of nowhere… “It’s easy to find your way! Take the first path on the left, cross the river after the clearing and then walk straight on. Most important: don’t look back and everything will be alright, you’ll be home before the night!”

Poor bear, he’s totally disoriented: everything has changed, magic is everywhere! Through each step of his walk, elves and imps come along, as if to make him more confused.

Finally Bernie will find his way... to his bed. Was it all just a dream?

A psychedelic pop-up set in an enchanting universe, by the inventive duet of The Red Cube.

The Blue Elf Monday: school canteen day! Tuesday: great, chocolate is allowed! Wednesday: let’s help Granny! Thursday: Oh no, not dandelions! Friday is candyfloss day, hurray! Saturday is Birthday Cake Day. And Sunday? It’s Feast Day! BUT what’s for sure is that every night, we’ll have to brush our teeth!

What day is today? What are we eating for lunch? And what do we have to do after eating? Major questions for toddlers!

After the success of Tu fais quoi ? / What’s up?, Olivia Cosneau and Bernard Duisit team up again for a pop-up book where kids can learn techniques about how to go to sleep, just like baby animals!

Olivia Cosneau is an illustrator who

has published many children’s books

about animals and nature with

Amaterra, Casterman, Gründ, La

Martinière…

Élisa Géhin invites us into her little theatre of puppets who hilariously nod, lean, shake their arms or their heads. A book about the notions of politeness and socialization – whilst not forgetting to enjoy oneself! For this preschool handbook of proper etiquette, there’s just one possible answer: thank you, thank you so much!

Élisa Géhin was born in 1984 in the Vosges

Mountains. She studied at École Estienne

and École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs

in Strasbourg, France. She now lives in Paris,

creating illustrations for publishers (editions

Thierry Magnier, Les Fourmis rouges…)

or children’s magazines.

To learn how to do stuff all alone, just like birds!

It appeared at dawn: a red cube, standing here, at the edge of the forest… another magic pop-up book!

Would you rather have a cat… or a dog? A fork… or a spoon?

A funny way to decide what you’ll be wearing today!

What’s wrong with your face? your mouth? your eyes?!

A perfect mix between the works of Claude Ponti and Michael Rosen & Helen Oxenbury’s We’re going on a Bear Hunt, the story conveys a magical world full of fun and intrigue where the wolf tries to get into the landscapes drawn within the book, where images have frames of their own. Just as if the characters, many mischievous children, were awakening from their long hiding (they’ve been playing hide and seek for a hundred years!) just when the wolf comes along to tease him pitilessly. Readers will look forward to spotting all the little ones hiding, scattered here and there, the witty side jokes and details. Because is the poor wolf really after them? You’ll find out when all the kids regroup for snacks! The fast-paced and zany narrative by Floue and Pianina will instantly delight young readers and turn reading into play.

Camille Floue was born on a Friday 13, in 1986. After studying literature and

philosophy, she became a teacher. She has written stories and songs for ever, but

this is her first book to be published. She lives and works in Paris.

Vincent Pianina graduated from Emile Cohl School in Lyon, France. He now lives

near Paris, working both for comics and children’s books or newspapers.

365 Penguins

Count with the Penguins

Sold in 13 languages throughout the world, honoured by several prestigious awards and studied in class, 365 Penguins has become a classic of children’s literature.

Originally published in 2007 and unfairly absent during several years, this gem is back! in a new tuxedo jacket and a slightly smaller size, to spread the fun all over the world once more!

A great and funny book to learn about counting and counting again: no mistakes allowed!

On the New Year, a deliveryman shows up at the door with a box. There’s a penguin in it! Who sent this strange gift? No name is written anywhere. On January the 2nd… Ding-dong! There’s another penguin on the doorstep. No name. No address. Nothing.

But what do you do when you receive a penguin every single day of the year? (It’s getting a little crowded…)

Well, you count them – and try to figure out what you’re going to do with all these (365?...) penguins!

In addition to writing for film, television and newspapers, Jean-Luc Fromental

is the author of more than thirty books, including novels, travelogues, children’s

books and comics.

Joëlle Jolivet is an internationally acclaimed illustrator. Publishers Weekly has

called her books ‘vibrant...dazzling’, and the School Library Journal said they

‘are aesthetically impressive as they are informative’.

They are the acclaimed authors of 365 Penguins, 10 Little Penguins, Oops !

and Bonesville.

A book full of problems (in verse) similar to shrewd nursery rhymes, for the reader to learn to add up, subtract, or multiply the legendary penguins of the duet Fromental and Jolivet.

Nothing, however, is really a problem: 41 tear-off pieces (penguins, bears, orca, small fish, numbers) allow the children to make the operations very real. As in the Montessori method, everything becomes clearer!

A light and clever object, with bluish decorations of ice floe, animals from the North Pole and illustrated instructions. And, at the end of the book, an igloo where the readers can tidy up all these elements before playing with them all over again.

Pompon Bear is not scaredEverything is so peaceful in the forest! The sun is shining, the flowers are growing, the butterflies are flitting here and there, and the Bear family is enjoying a delightful moment in the clearing. Except for little Bear: he’s so horribly bored! Suddenly he gives in: enough of this clearing! Enough of being a bear: he’s going to be a little boy! «I’m out of here!” shouts Pompon. «Don’t go too far, though,» warns his mummy. But Pompon doesn’t care: adventure is about to begin!

After a long walk, as he reaches the edge of the wood, a big house appears… Bears aren’t allowed into houses, but now Pompon is a boy. So he goes in, takes a bath and dresses up as a boy. But is the house really inhabited? Luckily, Pompon Bear is not scared!

Benjamin Chaud is the renowned illustrator of Pomelo and La Fée Coquillette

(Albin Michel jeunesse), Adieu Chaussette / Farewell Floppy and the series

For AndreaAndrea the bear is quietly reading a book, when suddenly, she receives a paperplane invitation that flies into her living room. She does not know who sent it, just that she’s supposed to be at a certain place at a certain time.

One early morning, Marcel the monkey, Romain the rabbit, Manon the girafe and Ulysses, the donkey, meet one by one. Getting out of bed is tough, but they are on a mission. On their way, the four of them gather all sorts of nice things (balloons, exquisite cakes and sweets, lilies…) in order to surprise Andrea for her birthday. She will find out in the park what the surprise was all about, realizing that the best gift of all is undoubtedly her friends themselves – the four of them being featured on the jacket of the book, and being the final surprise, for Andrea AND for the readers!

Born in Toulouse in 1986, Sophie Vissière studied Visual Arts. She is now

a graphic designer and illustrator, very much interested in handmade

printing techniques. Le Potager d’Alena was her first book published

in the french language (her previous books were in occitan).

It’s a book to read every other day, just the way you want. A book to read with your dad or with your mum, or by yourself, as you prefer. A book to read whilst following the order of days, weeks, or months, but a book where you can also pick a random story. A book you can take with you when you change houses, from your mum’s to your dad’s home, or find again where you left it.

The 179 stories were written by the talented Vincent Cuvellier. One story for every even day of the year, from January to December. From recipes to fun rules of procedure, adventures in the wild or at the corner of the street, these bedtime stories constitute a tender, zany and joyful illustrated big book. A regular reading event that unfolds a complete universe at once literary and contemporary, surprising and welcoming, where a father and his son are in turns the protagonists and inventors of the stories.

Vincent Cuvellier was born in Brest in 1969. He quit school in ninth grade and

published his first novel at the age of 17. He never stopped writing… in 2017, thirty

years later, he has written more than seventy books!

Thomas Baas is both an illustrator and a poster artist. His work is inspired by

the tradition of the great Alsatian illustrators: Gustave Doré, Hansi, Tomi Ungerer…

Playing outside!“Stop going round in circles! Why don’t you go play outside? there are so many things to do!”

Run as fast as you can, watch the flowers, find shapes in the clouds or simply breath. Imagine you’re the greatest adventurer, jumping on the rocks, realizing how fragile nature is, and being bewitched with its beauty! There are a thousand games to play.

“You were right, Mum, it was great, we completely lost track of time!”

This landscape picture-book takes the reader throughout a sensitive and accurate world tour, along with kids joyfully growing more and more free. The full size painted illustrations, with their naive cross-section landscapes inspired by 19th century engravings, joyfully capture what’s going on in the water, above and under the ground.

The ecological concern cunningly brought up with the numerous endangered species crossing the kids’ path will make their journey all the more rewarding.

Saul, Mister Dream and the Piece of WallIn an imaginary country, on the other side of the dried-up river, there is a city called Dull City, where houses have no doors and no windows, where the inhabitants don’t see or talk to each other… They are all very bored and go to bed very early.

Each night, inside the factory, the dream machine activates itself. And Mister Dream, the Dreamalist, comes to life.

One evening, while Saul is asleep, mister Dream enters his home. Saul is dreaming that his house is flying and that a piece of his wall has disappeared. In this dream (or is it reality?), the piece of wall, mister Brick, becomes friend with mister Dream. Together, they build a staircase in front of Saul’s house.

The next morning, when Saul wakes up after Mister Dream has left, he discovers a door and a staircase. So he goes to his workshop to find the houses he saw in his dream…

Yes, it’s true. With a little imagination and a lot of hard work, dreams can become reality!

Early twentieth century. To support his family, young Eliaz, who had never seen the sea, becomes an apprentice sailor on board of La Jeanne, to go fishing in open seas. Bullied by the sailors, whose working conditions are terrible, the boy grows close to protector Lullan, native of Newfoundland, a silent man respectful of Nature. To forget about his pain, Eliaz wins over the crew with his violin – he is a wonderful musician indeed. The music attracts a young blue whale, Skye, who approaches the men more and more, unaware of the danger… what will happen to her?...

Michelle Montmoulineix lives in Brenne, a region in central France. In 2013, she was privileged enough

the godmother of a fin whale known as Popeye. She has published novels for children (Albin Michel and

The memoirs of a sheep like no other: a coming-of-age novel with a very british sense of humour.

Robêêrt is a French sheep, a simple farm sheep. However, thanks to his thirst for knowledge and his ability to observe, the lamb soon becomes the pupil of a shepherd dog. As he becomes bullied by the rest of the flock, Robêêrt is relieved to enter the Great House, but turns into a living cuddly toy for spoiled little girls. His adventure continues in England! At “Strawberries Stables”, he meets the luminous Jenny, a human with a big heart who teaches him how to read. He is now the pet sheep of Dash of the Nostril, a presumptuous but insomniac racehorse. Our friend, far from being stupid, has a very good influence on the prestigious stallion. His mission? Calm the champion thanks to his lullabies and other readings. His presence is crucial: Dash will face his greatest rival, lady champion Lady Castamere, in Ascot. Will love take precedence over competition?...

This is what you will discover in the ‘mêêmoirs’ of this extraordinary sheep.
