Wheel-A-Matic Tractors - Leaking

Previous Table of Contents Next

A leaking condition has been experienced on some Wheel-a-Matic transmissions in the area of the cam block support casting or the serial number plate.

To correct this condition we have available #6066 trunion gasket repair kit. Important!! The complete kit must be installed on model 875 and 1075 tractors to maintain proper trunion shaft tolerances.

1. #6066 kits are available through your distributor on a no charge basis.

2. Flat labor rate for warranty repair, $7.00.

A Wheel-a-Matic repair manual was recently mailed to all registered manual holders. We strongly urge you to use this manual and related service bulletins to repair transmissions in the field. Repairs, however, must be confined to the areas covered in these publications. The following Service Bulletins should be recorded in the back of the Wheel-a-Matic manual in the space provided for future reference, #56, #62, #64, #67, and #68.

This bulletin supercedes bulletins #56 and #67.

Wheel-A-Matic Transmissions

Previous Table of Contents Next

A change is being made in the larger of the two relief valve springs, part #7053, located in the dampening valve cavity. The springs in both the forward and reverse assemblies are affected.

The new springs, part #7264 eliminate the need for the installation of the part #6954 spacers behind the part #6444 dampening valves, when using an RT-366 and RT-367 tiller. IMPORTANT!!! Do not install the #6954 spacers in combination with the new springs as the tractors response will be greatly affected and will be unsafe for the operator.

All hydrogears starting with serial number FB-02157 and above have the new springs installed. An easy method of checking without removing the fender and tool box assembly, is to remove the reverse dampening valve and piston, and measure the length of the spring. The new spring is approximately 2 1/4" long, the old spring measures 2".

The original spring, part #7053, and part #6954 spacers are being discontinued. To install an RT-366 and RT-367 tiller on earlier Wheel-a-Matic tractors, replace the original #7053 springs with the new #7264 springs.

Hydrogears - Information Tags

Previous Table of Contents Next

Information tags are now being fastened to replacement Hydrogear units. The information tags should be referred to at the time of installing the unit to make sure it is adaptable to the particular tractor on which it is to be installed.

The YELLOW TAG is in reference to those tractors equipped with hydraulic Lifts.

The TWO-SIDE WHITE TAG with information on one side and a sketch on the other side gives instructions on how to adapt the latest hydrogear to earlier models.

Hydrogear Service

Previous Table of Contents Next

This bulletin is for your guidance whenever- and only after -trouble shooting procedures indicate Hydrogear assembly replacement is necessary. Three lIydrogear assemblies, part numbers 6200, 7880, and 8061, are available for service replacement purposes depending on tractor model. Application, price and warranty data for each is listed below.

APPLICATIO

Part No. 6200: (Rear mounted towing valve)

These units replace all 1965, 1966 and early 1967 Hydrogears. They are rebuilt assemblies. Sundstrand Hydro-Transmission, LaSalle, Illinois, the original manufacturer, has checked all internal parts against manufacturing tolerances and reassembled them using all new seals and gaskets. They can be expected to perform like new in all respects.

Part No. 7880: (Top mounted towing valve)

These are original equipment on 1967 models (except a few early models with #6200) and all 1968 and 1969 long frame 10 and 12 H.P. models. They are available only as new units.

Part No. 8061:

These are used only on the 14 H.P. 1969 tractor model 1-7441. They, too, are available only as new units.

Part numbers 6200 and 7880 are basically the same, interchangable, and distinguished mainly by the location of the towing valve-rear mounted on 6200-top mounted on 7880. Part number 8061 resembles 7880, but, because of gearing differences, can not be installed in place of it. It will install only on the 14 H.P. transaxle.

PRICE IFORMATIO

Part Number 6200 (rebuilt) $120.00 List*

Part Number 7880 (new) $201.65 List*

Part Nos. 7880 & 8061:

New #7880 and #8061 units are fully warranted for the duration of the new tractor warranty or for six months from the installation date, whichever length of time is greater.

Each new #7880 and #8061 installed on an out-of-warranty tractor is fully warranted for six months from the date of installation.

A self-addressed information return card is attached to each assembly shipped by the parts department. Our receipt of the filled out card puts the guarantee into effect. The stub of the card stays with the tractor as a warranty receipt.

Important:

Only in the case of warranty replacements should Hydrogear assemblies be returned for credit. Otherwise, failed units should be scrapped locally.
