Each report provides detailed information on how each student is achieving in relation to the expected standard for Semester One. Semester One reports are an indication of your child’s achievements during the past 6 months. The new reports aim to explain to parents the content covered within the syllabus areas of English and Mathematics and each report is individualised with your child’s I can…statements. Each of these statements individualises what your child knows and is able to do in relation to syllabus expectations for their Stage (through the check list of skills). For each Key Learning Area (or subject), a student’s overall achievement is described using a standard five-point scale from Limited to Outstanding where Sound achievement represents the expected standard. Students achieving Sound are working at and achieving their appropriate grade level (i.e. if in Year Two they are working at and achieving at Year Two level). Sound is the expected level of achievement according to the child’s age. Please note that a Sound grade is a good grade! All children need continued acknowledgement and praise to maintain enthusiasm and their commitment to learning. I encourage all parents and carers to contact their child/ren’s class teacher if any explanation of their child’s report is needed. Please remember that you can make an appointment at any time to speak with your child’s class teacher. We value our close home/school partnerships and are dedicated to working in collaboration with families to ensure we cater to all children’s individual needs. Further, we are looking forward to your feedback and suggestions on our reports through a survey we have created. The survey link is: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SPKJKJY ". and is also available in School Stream. Thank you to our parents who have already provided survey feedback on our trial reports. We will leave the survey open over the holidays. Wet Weather pick up We are further refining our wet weather procedures to ensure the safety of our students as they exit the school in wet weather unless your child has a leave pass. We ask in the event of wet weather that parents pick up their child from their class teacher in the Cola. Teachers have been asked to ensure they assemble their class in the Cola by 3:25. Children cannot be dismissed before the bell. We ask that parents give the classes space to assemble before approaching their child, this will ensure that staff can supervise more efficiently. Students walking or crossing the road for parent pickup in cars will assemble with Mrs O’Rourke who will walk the group to the crossing gate. School Concert and Sesqui-Centenary This year is our Sesqui-Centenary. Celebrations for our 150th birthday are being planned. In claiming the date, there will be an official dedication and student performances on Thursday 8 November and, an Open Day and Bush Dance on Saturday 10 November. Both events will take place at school. Due to enormity in planning this wonderful event, it has been decided after consultation with the P& C to forego the School Concert (for this year only). Our planning committee, including parents and staff (past and present) is working hard to finalise details of the Sesqui-Centenary events.

From the Principal Semester One reports Student reports were sent home last Friday. Each report provides detailed information on how each student is achieving in relation to the expected standard for Semester One. The new reports aim to explain to parents the content covered within the syllabus areas of English and Mathematics and each report is individualised with your child’s I can…statements. Front of school committee The front of school committee met earlier in the week to talk about rejuvenation of the area around the Heritage Garden, Kinder play and front of admin area. We are currently having plans drafted and in the meantime, would like to start clearing low lying shrubs in the Heritage garden to replant the Garden. We have sought advice and the large conifer will need to be removed. It has reached maturity and is now in decline. There is much dead wood in the canopy and it is in a high traffic area. All other trees will remain and form the backbone of the new design. We are sourcing new signage and revamping the Heritage Garden fence, changing the colour to black so that it blends with the existing fence. We are thinking about a working bee in the future once plans have been decided upon. We are happy to receive any thoughts and suggestions for the improvement and flow within this area. Please let me know and I shall pass on to the Committee. Student Behaviour Please be reminded that we are firmly committed to enhancing our school environment and doing our best to ensure all students enjoy the right to feel safe and happy at school. Students who are violent and physically aggressive will be suspended. Students who demonstrate ongoing disrespect-ful behaviour will also be suspended. We monitor and support behaviour daily and we are greatly appreciative of parent support. Ultimately, we want to ensure all students have the opportunity to develop into young adults who can make responsible and safe decisions independently. We want our children to be good people who treat others well, people who are proud of themselves and held in high esteem by others. This can only occur if we collectively have high standards, teach our children to be accountable for their behaviour and teach them how to behave responsibly. This is best done when we all work together. Once again, I would like to extend my very sincere thanks to the parents who have been working so closely and co-operatively with us. Western Region Rugby League team at the PSSA State Carnival. Congratulations to Ace on his success as part of the team had an outstanding carnival, having 3 wins from 6 games and finishing 7th overall! Day 1 the boys went down 16-4 to Sydney North, 4-0 to South Coast and had a heavy loss to Sydney West. Day 2 the team beat North Coast 10-6 and Polding 12-4. They played off against North West and had an impressive win 12-0.
