Egg One: Palm Branch The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!” And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written, “Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt!” - John 12:12-15 - How can we praise Jesus as our King today? How do you think Jesus felt when Judas betrayed Him?

Egg Three: Grape & BreadNow as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” And he took a cup, and when he had given

thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

- Matthew 26:26-28 -

Why is it important for us to regularly remember the covenant that Jesus made with us?

Egg Four: Bible (represents prayer) And they went to a place called Gethsemane. And he said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” And he took with him Peter and James and John, and began to be greatly distressed and troubled. And he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death. Remain here and watch.” And going a little

farther, he fell on the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. And he said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will,

but what you will.”- Mark 14:32-36 -

Why do you think Jesus thought prayer to His Father was so important?

Egg Five: Piece of Rope or Leather And some began to spit on him and to cover his face and to strike him, saying to him,

“Prophesy!” And the guards received him with blows. - Mark 14:65 -

Can you imagine being there to witness how much Jesus went through to forgive us from our sins?

Egg Six: ThornThen Pilate took Jesus and flogged him. And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head and arrayed him in a purple robe. They came up to him, saying,

“Hail, King of the Jews!” and struck him with their hands.- John 19:1-3 -

Why do you think these people mocked and made fun of Jesus?

Egg Seven: NailsCarrying the cross by himself, he went to the place called Place of the Skull (in Hebrew, Golgotha). There they nailed him to the cross. Two others were crucified with him, one on

either side, with Jesus between them. And Pilate posted a sign on the cross that read, “Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.” The place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek, so that many people could read it.

- John 19:17-20 -

What do you think Jesus was thinking about as He was being nailed to the cross?

Egg Eight: DiceAnd when they had crucified him, they divided his garments among them by casting lots.

- Matthew 27:35 -

If the people casting lots for His clothes really knew who Jesus was, instead of casting lots for His clothes, how do you think they would have felt after His death?

Page 3: Egg One: Palm Branch

Egg Nine: Toothpick (represents the spear) But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once there came out blood and

water. He who saw it has borne witness—his testimony is true, and he knows that he is telling the truth—that you also may believe. For these things took place that the Scripture might be fulfilled: “Not one of his bones will be broken.” And again another Scripture says,

“They will look on him whom they have pierced.” - John 19:34-37 -

How joyful is it that we can know that God fulfills His Word?!

Egg Ten: Piece of ClothWhen it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who also was a disciple of Jesus. He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered it to be given to him. And Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen shroud and

laid it in his own new tomb, which he had cut in the rock. And he rolled a great stone to the entrance of the tomb and went away.

- Matthew 27:57-60 -

How do you think Joseph felt as he cared for Jesus upon His death?

Egg Eleven: StoneNow after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and

the other Mary went to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it.

- Matthew 28:1-2 -

Can you imagine being Mary and seeing Jesus’s empty tomb?

Page 4: Egg One: Palm Branch

Egg Twelve: EmptyBut on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. And as they were frightened and bowed their

faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.” And they remembered his words, and returning from the tomb they told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest. Now it was Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James and the other women with them who told these things to the apostles, but these words seemed to them an idle tale, and they did not believe them. But

Peter rose and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths by themselves; and he went home marveling at what had happened.

- Luke 24:1-12 -

What do you think it would have been like to be one of Jesus’s closest friends and seeing Him upon His resurrection from the dead?
