Lola Pouncey, Chief of the Bureau of Operations updated the Board on the department’s project to improve and streamline the agenda process.

• 3. Discussion re: Education and Credentials “B” Committee recommendation for Health Opportunity Tech. Center Ms. Gordon briefed the Board on the Education Committee’s recommendations regarding Health Opportunity Technical Center and English competency.

Recommendation #1 is to remove approval of Health Opportunity Technical Center.

Recommendation #2 is to require graduates of Health Opportunity Technical Center be given condition approval

A future conference call is planned. The Board of Nursing centennial committee is planning to kick off the celebration in conjunction with the Florida Nurses Association lobby days on March 19th. All disciplinary board-ordered refresher or remedial courses require didactic and clinical components that are in compliance with 64B9-3.025.

Additional clinical hours in specialized or general areas may be specified

Agency specific, agency provided inservices on JCAHO requirements for procedural timeout and other standards

 

Note: 2 & 8 hour courses offered by CE Providers; 40 hour courses may be offered by CE Providers but are more commonly part of a nursing program curriculum.
