We, the JuryALL RISE! The honorable judge...YOU presiding!Throughout this engaging day of activities about ourjudicial system, students act as the judge and jury.Knowledgeable staff takes students on an educationaladventure through the main exhibition as they learn aboutcourts and the rule of law. On this fun-filled day, students will learn about therights and responsibilities of being a citizen and gainknowledge of our country and its freedoms. Eastern State Penitentiary

Eastern State TourBank robber Willie Sutton was a “guest” here. Sowas the infamous Al Capone. Now groups can gobehind-the-walls through one of the nation’s mosthistoric prisons in solitary confinement cells thatonce held some of the country’s most notoriouscriminals. Known for its grand architecture and strictdiscipline, Eastern State Penitentiary today is ahaunting world of crumbling cellblocks and emptyguard towers. Behind-the-Scenes ExperienceGroups will step out onto the Observation Deck thatsoars 50 feet above the 20,000-square footbroadcast area to watch live programs beingbroadcast - and maybe catch a glimpse of a favoritehost or guest! Then the group goes behind-the-scenes to see broadcasting design areas: Lighting;the Shop, where many of the QVC sets are created;the Studio Operations Desk, where program hostsand on air personalities are prepared for the show;a Green Room for guests to lounge in betweenshows; and much more. Mural Arts Experience

Paint the TownThis official Mural Arts Program experiential touroccurs in four parts: Exploration, Presentation,Painting, and Reflection. Groups begin with a guidedexploration of 20-30 neighborhood murals includingintimate details about the program, creative process,mural making techniques, and Philadelphia history.Then it’s off to the artist’s studios for a presentation bya professional muralist who can tailor their discussionto reinforce themes important for your group such asrespect for self and community. Now the group is ready to paint. Artists and assistantswill provide instruction for your group to beginpainting a real mural on a specially-prepared canvasset up like a large paint-by-number project. Allsupplies are provided, including gloves and aprons tokeep clothing clean. Paint does not wash out soguests should dress appropriately. To end theexperience, guests will embark on a final mural touren-route to their desired location in the city, seeinganother 10-20 murals. This provides time foradditional questions and reflections.
