Client CMS Training“The Hando!”
“Transition”
“Are we there yet?”
Typical Client GuideText document to explain how things work.
!is x 12 pages != fun
!at is a suck.• Takes hours to create
• May skip something a client forgets. Every. Single. Time.
• Repeated explanations of how to do something
Video Client GuideQuick screencasts to show how things work.
Method 1: In an EE template• The videos are viewable on the regular website
• Restrict the template to logged in Admins
!at’s more better
Method 2: Accessory• Exists in the Control Panel
• New to EE 2.x
• Tutorials readily available (always by the thing they’re having trouble with)

Make it happenRecord - upload - show
Record the screencast• Options: Screenr, ScreenToaster, Screen"ick
• Web apps are easiest to use, but have drawbacks: privacy & concern over their longevity
• Recording & hosting your own is better IMHO, but requires a bit more work (#le conversion mostly)
• I use Screen"ick
• Upload the video #le via FTP
Install the accessory• client_training added to:
• system/expressionengine/third_party/
• themes/third_party/
Customize the accessory/system/expressionengine/third_parties/client_training/views/video_embed.php
Add in the video title, description, and #le location
