The finest shoes in England for the discerning few

Transcript of Edward Green shop catalogue

Designers and makers of shoes for men to wear on all occasions

— walking, service, riding, hunting, sport, dress etc.

Edward Green established his shoemaking workshop in Northampton in 1890.

“Excellence without compromise,” was his promise and soon his name became

associated with the finest English Goodyear welted footwear. Edward Green shoes were

chosen by the Duke of Windsor, Cole Porter & Ernest Hemingway.

Today we continue to strive to make the best shoes possible, refining and improving where

appropriate, but always taking our time to ensure that each pair of shoes is fit to bear our founder’s name and dress another generation

of men who appreciate the difference.

Our last-maker has been carefully working on evolving our chisel-toed last. It’s been

rasped, sanded, chiselled and sculpted all to make a last of perfect poise and balance.

With it’s crisper definition, accentuated waist and lighter profile, the 890 brings a smart and contemporary shape to the Edward

Green collection.

We’ve four models showcasing the 890, including the new Laughton adelaide and

Ashton single monk.

Made from our signature shoe leathers and inspired by details from Edward Green

patterns, these beautifully finished wallets and cardholders are the perfect companion piece

for your shoes.

The card slots and hot pressed lines are inspired by those on our Galway boot. French

wheat is used as a lining. And each wallet bears a small bartack, the stitch at the bottom

of an oxford shoe’s facing — a mark of it’s Edward Green heritage.

The collection comprises a wallet, cardholder and folding cardholder. All are available in an array of Edward Green calf and alligator skins

We believe in taking the time to hand–cut our patterns, one pair at a time.

We want to preserve the full detail of the calfskin but not every mosquito bite.

No machine can match the care of the shoe-clicker’s attentive eye.

Natural burnished calfskin has long been an Edward Green signature.

Our Delapré calfcontinues this tradition.

Tanned near the Rhine, Delapré is treated with nine different fats

to create a beautifully rounded and supple leather which gains character

as it ages.

We have Delapré in a handsome new printed form called Utah.

Goodyear welted construction was developed in late 19th century America but has become synonymous with the English shoe-making

tradition.

The welt is a band of leather connecting the upper to the sole. This forms a durable

construction and creates space for a cork resin filling to cushion and ventilate.

We close our sole’s stitched channel for a refined finish.
