Virtual presentation of technological artefact
Education 1751 Assignment 1
The artefacts that I have looked art are: Take a Breath The Sven Callaway Show
Which are both from the PD/HPE scootle website
Technological artefacts
Intellectual Quality of the Learning
Sven Callaway show
Takea Breath
The artefact stayed focused on important ideas of the topic/subject.
This artefact was focused on the ideas of the subject over a range of areas in the topic
Thisartefact stayed focused on the important ideas of the topic as it was only covering a small area topic
It got students to think about different points of view, different ways to solve a problem, or different solutions to problems.
Svenwas quiet good in this area as the idea of the talk show is to give different opinions and points of view across
Take a breath was notso good in this area is it was a generic program to learn about a function of the body
Good and bad example of artefact
Intellectual Quality of the Learning
The Sven CallawayShow
Take a Breath
It used metacognition to demonstrate how to link what the students were learning with what they already know
therewas a lot of metacognition used in this artefact as there was large amounts of higher order thinking through out the activity
There was not a great deal of higherorder thinking going on due to the bases of the topic and its set out
It used questions to guide students in linking the lesson/unit learning to other topics/subjects
Thiswas effectively achieved as there where a few parts of the topic spoken about and then opinions given about the topic
Thisagain wasnt done so well as there was only a couple generic question involving you to summarise the topic and didnt really have a cross over into other area topics

Takea Breath
It gave the students some say in what the lesson was about or how it unfolded in real time in the classroom
This was done by allowing the students to work throughthe activities in their own order allowing them to choose which way they wanted to go
This was also done in this artefactas the students again where able to choose which way they wanted to work through the activities and information
It made sure the lesson had a real world application or connection between what the students were learning and their future learning needs
This had a real world connection as the topic in which it covered covers areas in health which are used in every day life and also definitions which are also used regularand can influence present and future mind sets
This mainlyfocused on topic which was about therespitorysystem and what and how it works which can be used in real life to help make good decisions involving health and fitness.

How does the artefactrelate to real world connection and learning
Students explore a range of opinions on adolescent health issues. Students research facts andcompare a range of attitudes on health issuesExperiential learning;Independent learning;Visual learning
This artefact does it to a leaser extentin which it shows an area connecting the information and activities back to the student and requires comprehension to complete the activity
How does it connect to the curriculum
Students examine interviews with health experts and students.Includes links to websites on health issues.Provides a stimulus for group discussions.
