At the core of our Smart Sub System is our 20 hour Introductory Teacher Training. Composed of five courses and exams, the Introductory Teacher Training covers leadership and professionalism, classroom management, instructional strategies, and working with diverse populations.

This training is typically completed by substitute teachers before they begin to take assignments.

Over time, substitute teachers who remain in good standing with their districts are then given periodic Refresher Trainings to keep them up-to-date.

Our Smart Sub System also includes support training that extends learning topics covered in the initial training. When a substitute teacher receives a complaint, he or she is directed to complete the Tier 1 extension training.

Typically, that’s all they need.

Refresher Training

Core Training

If a substitute teacher receives a second complaint, after completing the Tier 1 training, he or she is directed to complete the Tier 2 extension training.

Again, typically that’s enough to fully recover the substitute teacher as a successful, functioning employee.
