Lewis Martin Luther on THE WORD: (Luther gave two examples of his great regard for and clinging to God’s Word.) Faith Must Cling to the Word Despite Sight and Senses. This only is a really strong faith: if a heart can believe what it does not see and comprehend, believe against all senses and reason, and cling solely to the Word. … In this faith one must put out of sight everything except the Word of God. He who lets his eyes rest on anything else is already lost. Faith clings to the Word alone, purely and simply, never loses sight of it, looks at nothing else, neither at its work nor its merit. While we are not to despise prophets and dreamers if their prophecies and dreams agree with the Word of God and faith, yet we should first of all urge the studying of Moses and the prophets, that is, that we have, before all, the pure Word and its true understanding. From this we shall then be able to judge all visions, all dreams and prophecies. Yea, we shall be able to judge the angels, both the good and the evil. Also prayers for our other military members: Bruce Avriett, Alex Eck, Greg Emde, Mark Erwin, Daniel Herm, Jennifer Howell, Dan & Stephanie Scherdt, Larry Sull, Mathew & Rachel Young, Eric Young, Anthony & Kelsey Payne. Pastor Barrie Henke – Praise and thanksgiving as he celebrates the birth of his 1st grandson – Jaxon Christopher Henke, born to Jason & Nishia Henke on Monday, September 25th. Tammy Backman – in the hospital battling severe pneumonia and also a mass on her lung Lu Barratiere- struggling with several health issues. . Brandon Chapman – Prayers for safety as he prepares for Oct. 5 th deployment to Afghanistan. Ferne Herman – recovering from numerous injuries sustained in a fall Eunice Langager – prayers that God will grant the return of her strength. Anita Mease – recovering from surgery to put in a defibrillator. Caleb Mock – 6 week old son of Philip & Cassie Mock, in the hospital recovering from staph infection. Continued prayers for complete healing. Carlene Namken – recovering from surgery and treatment for thyroid cancer Benny Ormson -recovering from a fall that injured a kidney. Paulette Owens – Praise & thanksgiving for healing from breast cancer. John Parkinson – recovering from procedure for congestive heart failure Rita Paul – Prayers for complete healing from left shoulder surgery. Gary Quick – Continued prayers for God’s mercy in his battle with Parkinson’s Renee Rosanelli – struggling with heart, lung and other health issues due to lupus. Bob & Elsie Schatz – prayers for Elsie as she recovers from a fall this past week; also continued prayers as Bob struggles with several health issues. Jo Thompson – recovering from surgery to repair hiatal hernia. Curtis Vickery – Prayers for healing from complications following foot surgery. Becky Vorel – as she recovers from surgery. Oct. 1st – The youth will be going to their service project - Free to Live. We will meet at the church for pizza at 12:00PM, leave at 12:30PM, and return at 3:30PM.
