Mission of the Department

To create updated technocrats in the ever growing industry and university by

cultivating computer concepts and techniques

To facilitate the students to elicit more creativity by using modern sciences and

technologies in the field of computer science and engineering.

To inculcate the strength of ethical standards contributing to the benefit of the society.

EVENTS

4th September, 2017: Industrial Visit

We organized an Industrial Visit for second year students to BSNL, Harbour

Telephone Exchange. The students learnt about the Telecom equipments and

working in the network. Students were allowed to see the models and equipment

distributed in various labs.

6th September, 2017: Seminar

We organized a Seminar for final year students by Uniq Technology. The seminar

was based on career guidance on network services, software solution, web

designing and testing services. Final year students got an idea about it and were

little clearer about their career

19th September, 2017: Seminar

We organised a Seminar conducted by Uniq Technologies for third year students.

They gave a speech on cloud computing, web technology, big data, Rational Rose

and so on. They also motivated the students to go for inplant training in Uniq

technology either a short term or long term.

20th September, 2017: Industrial Visit

We arranged an Industrial Visit to Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC)

or Sriharikota High Altitude Range (SHAR), in Sriharikota for final year

students. It is a rocket launch centre operated by Indian Space Research

Organisation (ISRO). Students were taken to machine control centre and were

explained about its working. Students also saw the launch pad 1 and 2.

23rd September, 2017 Symposium

We conducted a technical symposium Xensus 2k17. Around 200 students from

various colleges took part it. Technical events like paper presentation, debugging,

hackton and quiz and non-technical events like treasure hunt, photography and

gaming.

HOME THEY BROUGHT LAURELS:

Third year students of CSE attended a Seminar conducted by “OECC The

Name you can trust”, where they gave a speech on studying in Australia, the

climatic condition, the total cost of the studies and how could they survive and

manage their own expense and further about the job opportunity which was

more useful for the students who were planning to study abroad on 1st

September, 2017.

Copyright for IPScanner got sanctioned for Mr. Jehoshapat of final year,

CSE (255 IP will be scanned in one second) on 25th September, 2017.

3rd October 2017: Seminar

We organised a Seminar on open source Linux for second year students. The

Seminar was handled by Mr.Naresh Kumar, Alumni. He gave a speech on operating

system and motivated the students to do and execute the program related to the OS

lab exercises.

9th October 2017: Department Assembly

We released the Souvenir for the technical symposium “Xensus 2k17” by

Mr.Melvin, President of the symposium and was received by Dr.A.Umamageswari,

Head of the Department along with the faculty members. After that Head of the

Department delivered a special speech to the students for thanking the students for

conducting the technical symposium in a well-disciplined manner and for making it

a grant success.

10th October 2017: Seminar

We conducted a seminar on Higher Education for Final year students taken by

Ms.Lakshmi Rai, Director, Education matters. Students got a clear idea on higher

education where they were explained about the basic education qualification, exams

that they need to prepare and appear, cost of education etc. More students were

motivated to go ahead in their next level by choosing higher level education

.

25th November 2017 Seminar

We organized a seminar for faculty members on Research Initiatives on 25th

November 2017. Dr.A.Kannan, Professor/Head, Department of Media Science,

Anna University, Chennai motivated to publish research papers in more journals

and to work hard to be successful in research.

27th November 2017 FDP

We conducted a Faculty Development Program on Advances on Operating

System for the faculty members of CSE and IT department on 27th November 2017

and two other faculty members from Loyola Institute of Technology took part in it.

The resource person was Dr.Ponsy.R.K.SathiaBhama, Associate Professor,

Department of Computer Technology, MIT gave a detailed view of Process

management and Memory management.

STAFF PARTICIPTION

Mr.Cypto, AP/CSE and Ms.KalaiarasiKarunya, AP/CSE attended a seven

days Anna University Faculty Development Program on Design and

Analysis of Algorithm in Loyola Institute of Technology on 15th

November, 2017 to 22nd November 2017.

Mrs.Jebasheela, AP/CSE and Mrs.Merlin, AP/CSE attended a two days

Faculty Development Program on Introduction to R Programming

which was held at Panimalar Institute of Technology and was conducted

by ICT Academy on 16th November, 2017.

Dr.Umamageswari, HOD/CSE and Dr.Bhuvaneswari, Prof/CSE attended

a one day Master Trainer Workshop on e-Governance Systems which

was conducted by AICTE and was held in Sri Sairam Engineering College

17th November, 2017.

Dr.A.Umamageswari, HOD/CSE acted as a resource person in an Anna

University Faculty Development Program on Design and Analysis of

Algorithm at Loyola Institute of Technology on 18th November, 2017.

Dr.G.Bhuvaneswari, Asso.Prof/CSE acted as a resource person in an Anna

University Faculty Development Program on Design and Analysis of

Algorithm at Loyola Institute of Technology on 21th November, 2017.
