news recently? Omegle is a
website, specifically designed
to allow users to talk to
strangers.
Many concerns have been

some of the key things to be
aware of here.
Horbury Primary recently teamed up with local anti-litter campaigners and
volunteers, the Wakefield Wombles, for a whole-school poster competition, as part
of British Science Week.
Judging wasn’t easy given the quality of entries but we can now say a huge well
done to Warren (Year 2) and Chloe (Year 4) who have both received a book token as
their reward!
After-school clubsAfter school sports clubs have started this week at Horbury Primary for those who
signed up for them in tennis, rugby, dance and dodgeball!
Music peripatetic lessons are also set to continue next week….
Getting back to normality and that’s music to our ears!
Thank youThank you to our volunteers who
delivered food and activity
parcels to families in receipt of
benefits-related free school meals
during the Easter break.
Art with a conscience
Year 5 really enjoyed their first
Samba lesson this week!
Year 2 had fun creating work based
on David Bedford's book 'It's a George
Thing!'
Year 1 have been reading the
Paddington books this week,
laughing a lot at all the cheeky
things Paddington gets up to!
They've made and written
instructions for marmalade sandwiches
and have written story predictions.
Lower Foundation have been
working on their physical
development by completing an
obstacle course. They've also
been developing their fine motor
skills with 'squiggle while you
wiggle'!
Upper
Foundation
have been
reading 'The
Jolly Postman'
and writing
letters to
Goldilocks.

Driving successHorbury Academy's Finn shared
some exciting news this week as his
Karting team tested for the British
Kart Championship that he's
competing in this year!
Here he is at the track...
Good luck in the championship, Finn.
Let us know how you get on!
The eggs have landed!Seven eggs, expected to hatch on May 5th, arrived at
Horbury Academy this week, much to pupils’ delight!
Next Friday, Miss Major will be filmed candling the eggs to
see if all are viable to hatch.
She will also be out and about at lunch times next week with
different challenges and fun egg facts!
We'll make sure you can follow them on their journey and
hopefully learn something new along the way!

Eggstraordinary work guys!
WOW Wednesday! On Wednesday, Horbury Academy once again celebrated some fabulous work, with each pupil receiving a certificate.
Remember, in order to receive a certificate, pupils simply need to take their work to the WOW Wednesday table in the Atrium
where they can chat about it to a member of SLT. Pupils can then catch the day’s highlights on the TV screens across the
academy! Come on, don’t be shy…we’re proud of you!
See you there next time!
