What are some immediate editing techniques they use and why?

Transitions Fade to back or white are used in almost every trailer this is to change from one scene to another. Jump cuts are also used to make it more dramatic and fast. It also create tension when the audience are watching the trailer.Montage editing is used in trailers to show the audience different scenes from the films giving the audience information about the plot or main characters. Special effects used CGI to make the vampires realistic also for climbing scenes or jumping scenes of the vampires.X-rayBlack and white effect

How does the pace change and why?

The pace of the trailers changes depending of the genre of the film, the pace can either be faster which is usually used in horror/thriller films this is used to build up tension. Other films genres like romance or drama will usually have a slow pace for the audience to feel the emotions.

Example - In the trailer “ Let Me In” the pace changes half way through the trailer when revealing that the little girl is a vampire. It also changes from slow to fast when an attacking scene is shown this is for the audience to get scared with the sudden attack.

Example - In the trailer "fright night" it starts with an upbeat pace, which changes when they realize that that the new neighbor is a vampire.

what editing techniques are used in different genres and why? (What editing techniques are conventional to

specific genres)

How does the editing connect/compliment the plot and narrative structure

In the trailer Daybreakers the editing connects the plot of the film as the special effect of the colour blue used matches the vampire world of coldness unlike for the human world.

The editing also compliments the narrative structure of Daybreakers as it starts from a slow paces then a fast paces with lots fast shots to connect with what is happening in the vampire world.

In the trailer "fright night" the editing connects with the plot of the trying to kill the vampire man as the pace changes.
