I then used the pen tool to create a path to crop around the image.

I was then left with the cropped figure, the process involved using the pen tool to create a path, I made a selection, I then pressed inverse which enabled me to clear everything but the figure.

I then went on to experiment with adjusting images ,I eventually found the one I liked.
