Summary:In this case, the intent was the give the impression of a large and forboding object, perhaps another lifeform or advanced machine is hovering over two small boys. The sky darkens near the object, and the overall shade is an scary hue
Problems:Even with the zoom tool, it can be difficult to touch every pixel of the trees and bushes that do not auto-fill with color.Selecting the exact background color and doing a canvas-wide replacement is easier & faster.

Techniques Used Magic wand Pattern copy tool Paint Brush Light filter
Summary In this case, the importance of choice in photos (materials) is highlighted as nearly equal in importance with special effects and editing. The figure of the giant monkey baby, reaching for the poor local man hanging from the vine, works because of the hands and orientation of the legs of the monkey baby, around the tree limbs.
Problems Lighting had to be adjusted, and the bathing suit of the baby had to be filled in where the light was shining on it from the wrong angle.

No. 3 Analysis
Techniques Used Paint brush tool Blur tool Magic Wand Fill (bucket) tool
Summary Because of the bright hues and lighting in the environmental image, a color balance had to be established by modifying the columns of the canyon with dark shadows. The theme (a burning hot hell with a beautiful angel) of the combined image represents a difficult collaboration between dark cold black shades, and hot bright yellow heat from the heavens above.
Problems Because of low resolution of the originating images, there was little available room for changes to contrast or brightness overall.

Techniques Used Liquify (plus)
Pucker Bloat Reconstruction
Paint Tool Summary
Because of the close proximity of the focal point to the camera lense, this subject was an excellent opportunity for modifications to skin tone areas of the image where modifications of a significant degree were possible.
Problems As changes to the shape of the object were magnified around the eye sockets, the lense and iris became distorted in shape. This uncovered the secrets of the modifications and decreases the life-like appearance of the final image.

No. 5 Analysis (part 1)
Techniques Used Lens Flare Shape tools Blur filter Stylize filter Blue tool Smudge tool
Summary These techniques would be more useful in non-professional uses, such as for organizational brochures and web graphics Without finer tuned and less holistic automatic changes, the final effect is an obvious departure from realism.
No. 5 Analysis (part 2)
Lens Flare Creates a circular glow Move cross-hair with mouse to desired centroid

No. 6 Analysis (part 1)
Techniques Used Layer Mask Cutout w/Paint Brush Layer Mask Light filter (exposure)
Summary This was the most difficult and time consuming problem. First, the entire scene, other than a few grassy areas in the background was underexposed However, the grassy areas in the background were almost white Part of the problem was the high ISO used
Problem This is a classic problem in Photoshop. How can you increase the whole photo lightness just slightly, while simultaneously lowering the lightness in some areas, and GREATLY increasing the light exposure in others???
No. 6 Analysis (part 2)
Exposure Histogram
Right side is bright Left side is darks Right end is dragged left Convex curve dragged left
Results
Brightest areas are made lighter Dark areas also made lighter This is a filter layer
No. 6 Analysis (part 3)
The background layer in this case was only preserved as a backup Next, the layer 1 is being “masked” by a light contrast layer, by manipulating the curve over the histogram Finally, the second copy of the background (“layer 1 copy”) was masked by a cutout layer The paint brush (color: black) was used to ‘cut-out’ the parts of the top layer image copy with 50% opaqueness
