Not many people guessed if theanniversary of the TNI this time wasfelt quite special. After the officialceremony, it was presented a culturalattraction in the form of fragmentarywith the title of”Red-white of Equa-torial Emerald.” The fragmentary wasperformed by the Indonesia Instituteof Arts (ISI) Denpasar in collabora-tion with Mahendradatta University,Denpasar, Ganesha Education Uni-versity (Undiksa), Teacher’s TrainingCollege (IKIP PGRI Bali), NationalEducation University (Undiknas),Bungkulan Health College (STIKES)Singaraja, STIE Triatma Mulya HighSchool of Economics, and SMAN 1Denpasar state senior high school. to implement continuously. Eachreligion should be able to acceptand appreciate the existing differ-ences. It is required honesty andpositive outlook towards other re-ligions. As consequence, it cangive contribution to the realizationof peace and multicultural andmulti-religious societal harmony.Similarly, religion must become afundamental moral message tohumanity. Religion also turnsmore functional in overcoming theproblems of life.

Those were some points re-vealed in the seminar entitled‘Samawi and Ardhi Dialogue inHindu Dharma Land: Reflectingon Ardhi Religion organized in thePost Graduate Hall of HinduDharma University of Indonesia,Tuesday (Oct 5).

The seminar featured thespeakers Prof. Dr. Franz MagnisSuseno (STF Driyarkara), Prof.Dr. Nur Syam, (Rector of IAINSunan Ampel, Surabaya) and Di-rector of Postgraduate Program ofUnhi Dr. I.B. Gunadha. The semi-nar was attended by postgraduateand graduate students of Unhi anddirected by Assistant to Director Iof Postgraduate Program Prof. Dr.Putu Gelgel.

Prof. I.B. Gunada said humanswere religious creatures. On thataccount, religion became the mostideal requirement. Similarly, reli-gion becomes the guarantor of therealization of well-being life of theworld (jagadhita) and the highesthappiness (moksha). To achievesuch conditions, humans at-tempted to improve the quality ofhis faith; increase the frequencyand quality of worship and deepenthe scriptural learning. However,no less people established theirfaith by building subjective pride, namely by considering that theirown religion was superior andfinding the weaknesses of otherreligions. As a result, they weretrapped in a narrow fanaticism. Inaddition, it also appeared dichoto-mous classification of religions, such as tribal religions, religiouslaw, and liberation religions. Like-wise, it raised some dichotomiesof prophetic religion vs. spiritual-ity religion, Abrahamic religionvs. Oriental religions and worldlyreligion vs. heavenly religion.

Celebration of the 65th anniversary of the TNI falling on Tuesday (Oct 5) was marked byholding a ceremony at the Puputan Badung Square by the ranks of Udayana Regional MilitaryCommand. The current anniversary looked so special because other than presentation of frag-mentary staged by hundreds of dancers, it was also jazzed up by the spread of super jumbo red-white flag sizing 120 meters x 80 meters. Even, due to the large size of the flag spread, the mu-seum record of Indonesia (MURI) noted the achievement in its record book. How many clotheswere spent for the jumbo flag?

of fragmentary, 12 painters showed offtheir capability through the scrape ofairbrush on canvas on the side of theeastern edge of the ceremony. Thepaintings made were in accordancewith military activities in performingtheir duties to maintain the integrityof the Unitary States of the RI (NKRI)and its commitment to unite with thepeople. In the sidelines of the paintertaking their action, it was resumed withthe performance of colossal fragmen-tary.

The fragments of dance told aboutthe triumph of Majapahit Kingdomcomposed nicely. As consequence, itcould win the attention of participantsattending the ceremony and inviteespresent at Puputan Badung Square.Agility of the dancers successfully re-freshed the atmosphere that was hotenough in the afternoon at the cer-emony location.

After the appearance of that colos-sal dance fragments, celebration of theTNI’s anniversary remarkably sur-prised the invitees. The reason, hun-dreds of children from several univer-sities and TNI soldiers expanded ajumbo red-white flag. Size of the flagwas 120 meters x 80 meters.

Gus Marhaen as the organizer ofthe jumbo red-white flag spread saidthe preparation to make the flag waslong time enough. Even, to sew theflag it took him about 14 days. ”Wespent at least 150 rolls of red-whiteclothes. “We completed the tasksthrough mutual assistance,” said GusMarhaen.

In fact, the colossal action arousedthe MURI to register the attraction inits book of record. That jumbo-size red-white flag was put on the number 4498.“The large-size flag was officially reg-istered on number 4498 in the recordof MURI,” said Senior Manager ofMURI, Paul Pangka. (ara)

Religion should pass moralmessages for humanityInterfaith dialogue important to continue

According to Prof. I.B. Gunada, religion had become a fundamen-tal moral message to humanity.Religion would turn more func-tional in overcoming the problemsof life. Religious fanaticism wasalso expected to narrow the gapheading for the multi-religion andmulticultural societal harmony.Religion was also expected to takefunction and message as a providerof value system, motivator and in-spirer in the work, became a wayof life and establisher of con-science.

In the meantime, Franz MagnisSuseno said that interfaith dia-logue should be continued. As amatter of fact, religions couldwork together and be united by thevalues of humanity existing inside. Each religion should be able toaccept and appreciate differences. We had to be honest and have posi-tive thinking towards other reli-gions. Of course, it would be ableto give contribution to the realiza-tion of peace, unity and to get outof the conflict.

Comparable idea was deliveredby Prof. Nur Syam. The emer-gence of religious and interfaithconflicts because the parties in-volved assumed their religion wasthe most correct. In the context ofmaintaining the interfaith har-mony, Nur Syam alluded to theopinion of one of the religious fig-ures that different concept shouldnot be equated and the same oneshould not be distinguished. Thephrase was considered very simplebut full of meaning. In otherwords, the difference had to beappreciated. The Prophet alone, asserted Nur Syam, really appre-ciated pluralism. Therefore, wehad to appreciate the difference it-self.

To anticipate any conflict, ac-cording to Nur Syam, it was im-portant to organize religious dia-logue continuously, especiallythose regarding to the dimensionsof humanity owned by each reli-gion. Thus, the harmony and safetycould be achieved. “Concordancewill engender harmony, while har-mony will then engender safety,”he said.

In the meantime, in regard tothe dichotomy of those religions, according to him, it tended to becaused by social commentary or aman-made construction. (08)

Temple Ceremony

EVERY Temple and Shrine has a special date for it annualCeremony, or “ Odalan “, every 210 days according to Ba-linese calendar, including the smaller ancestral shrine whicheach family possesses. Because of this practically every fewdays a ceremony of festival of some kind takes place in someVillage in Bali. There are also times when the entire islandcelebrated the same Holiday, such as at Galungan, Kuningan,Nyepi day, Saraswati day, Tumpek Landep day, Pagerwesi day,Tumpek Wayang day etc.

The dedication or inauguration day of a Temple is consid-ered its birth day and celebration always takes place on thesame day if the wuku or 210 day calendar is used. When newmoon is used then the celebration always happens on new moonor full moon. The day of course can differ the religious cel-ebration of a temple lasts at least one full day with some templecelebrating for three days while the celebration of Besakihtemple, the Mother Temple, is never less than 7 days and mostof the time it lasts for 11 days, depending on the importanceof the occasion.

The celebration is very colorful. The shrine are dressed withpieces of cloths and sometimes with brocade, sailings, deco-rations of carved wood and sometimes painted with gold andChinese coins, very beautifully arranged, are hung in the fourcorners of the shrine. In front of shrine are placed red, whiteor black umbrellas depending which Gods are worshipped inthe shrines.

In front of important shrine one sees, besides these umbrel-las soars, tridents and other weapons, the “umbul-umbul”, longflags, all these are prerogatives or attributes of Holiness. Infront of the Temple gate put up “Penjor”, long bamboo poles, decorated beautifully ornaments of young coconut leaves, riceand other products of the land. In response to the cancellationof President Yudhoyono’s trip, theDutch government on Tuesday re-gretted the sudden decision.

Political analyst of HasanuddinUniversity Prof.Dr.Aswanto urgedPresident Yudhoyono to give animmediate clarification for cancel-ling his state visit to Holland.

The clarification was needed tomaintain the existing cordial rela-tions with the Netherlands, he said.

“It would be a matter of greatregret if the two countries’ diplo-matic relations that have so farbeen running well and harmoni-ously is now disturbed (by the sud-den cancellation of the president’sstate visit),” he said.

The cancellation would onlyhave minor impact on the two coun-tries’ bilateral relations if PresidentYudhoyono could further clarify thereal cause of the cancellation, hesaid. Foreigners parade during the closing ceremony of Kuta Carnival 2010. The circle of tourismbusinesspeople regretted the discourse expressed by a public figure in regarding to the disso-lution of Kuta Karnival (KK). In their eyes, KK had strategic values and should be continued.

Tourism businesspeople deplore discourse on dissolution of Kuta Karnivalasked all parties to address wiser thecourse of current KK implementation.“As Chairman and on behalf of PHRIof Badung Chapter, KK should be con-tinued because KK is the icon ofBadung Tourism. If necessary, I amready to be invited to provide inputand advice,” observed Rai on Tues-day (Oct 5).

Meanwhile, Chairman of theBali Tourism Development Corpora-tion (BTDC), I Made Mandra, also

hoped that KK could remain to be heldas an annual marketing event. Manypeople were judged not understand onthe importance of promotional efforts.“There’s no business without a pro-motion. One thing required is tochange the nuance in order to obtainthe more creative one,” he said.

Support to the KK was alsoconveyed by a figure of Kuta, NengahCipta, stating that KK should remainin place, while things that should be

dissolved were jealousy, mistrust anda sense of disunity. “Let’s sit down to-gether to evaluate and equate the un-derstanding,” he invited.

He even criticized the idea orthe thinking of those who just wantedto be famous in newspaper because ofthe statement. “Is our ability just lim-ited to disperse the existing establishedevent? Let’s all be sincere and makeintrospection. Dissolving something isreally easy, but making something isbetter to commit,” he said.

In the meantime, NyomanBagiana Karang, a former legislator, also stated that KK was not neces-sary to dissolve. The important thingwas to perform an evaluation as partof the improvement. Importantly, itrequired an intention and positivethinking.

Meanwhile, the initiator ofKK, Made Supatra Karang, assertedthat any input or suggestions from allparties were required. However, KKdid not need a blasphemy, it neededa great support.

“We have sacrificed time andeffort, then why did the legislators be-haved like an angel? Rather than be-ing only able to convey the blas-phemy, it’s better to participate inadvancing the KK itself,” he said.

According to him, evaluationwas a must for such an internationalscale event. KK was very dynamicand could adapt to market trendswithout neglecting the values of lo-cal culture, an elegant and uniqueculture.

This public figure of Kutaclaimed to have received input from

the tourism businesspeople. Many ofthem expressed their disappointmentover the idea in order the KK was bet-ter to be dissolved.

“Many circles, especially tour-ism businesspeople deplored the at-tempt of KK dissolution. Even, theformer Head of Bali GovernmentTourism Office (Diparda), GdeNurjaya, recognized that KK hasgone international and it is eligibleto be made into a medium of cam-paign,” he explained.

Chairman of the KK Commit-tee, Morgan Made Suartha, hopedwhat was done during all this timecould be appreciated. “This KK be-longs to all of us and why should beabused. Should there be any weak-nesses, let’s improve it together. Donot be blasphemed, but give us a bet-ter solution. The House is the institu-tion of people’s representative, not in-stitution of blasphemer. Those sittingin the House are our representatives,”he said.

Most statement of a number ofpublic figures assessed the legislatorsshould not only criticize but alsomake sagacious introspection. Theyalso questioned what they had givento Badung Regency and if they en-joyed the people’s money just toblame others who had sacrificed theirtime and effort to Badung Regency.

If KK was not successful itmeant their failure (legislative and ex-ecutive) and they often forgot thismatter. They were just like spectatorswho could only blame. In fact, theyshould realize that they were the mainperpetrators. (par)

Policymaker Adam Posen lastweek said the central bank shouldconsider injecting more money intothe economy to bolster recovery andwarned that inaction could under-mine growth and push down infla-tion.

On Tuesday, the Bank of Ja-pan (BoJ) surprised markets byadopting a near zero rate policy andother measures to help safeguard afaltering recovery from the threats ofdeflation, or falling prices, and astrong yen.

WASHINGTON - A loom-ing currency war and the fate ofthe global recovery will domi-nate a meeting of economicpowers in Washington later thisweek, with China’s policies inthe line of fire.

Finance ministers and centralbankers from the IMF’s 187member states will gather fromFriday amid mounting concernthat the slow recovery is fuel-ing increasingly protectionistpolicies.

US mumblings that Chineseexports unfairly benefit from anartificially weak yuan have es-calated to a din that threatens todominate the meeting as cur-rency spats also proliferate else-where.

In recent weeks nearly adozen governments from Co-lombia to Japan have admittedto buying up local currency inthe hope of driving down itsprice to make exports cheaper.

A trio of top eurozone offi-cials on Tuesday urged ChinesePremier Wen Jiabao to live up to a Junevow to make the yuan more flexible, signaling Europe’s willingness to weighin as the euro gains against other cur-rencies.

Even as the US Congress pursuespunitive sanctions against China, Wash-ington and others are calling for the IMFto do more to stop a wider dispute fromerupting.

“Addressing exchange rate issuesshould also be a key priority for multi-lateral negotiations among a core groupof major economies,” said CharlesDallara, head of the Institute of Inter-national Finance, a group of the worldslargest banks.

In a letter to the IMF, Dallara calledfor a global accord and warned that re-surgent protectionism could “sap theeconomic recovery and further under-mine market confidence.”

IMF Director General DominiqueStrauss-Kahn however has urged gov-ernments to resist using currencies as“a policy weapon.”

“Translated into action, such an ideawould represent a very serious risk tothe global recovery... Any such ap-proach would have a negative and verydamaging longer-run impact,” hewarned in an interview Tuesday withthe Financial Times.

US officials are adamant that theIMF meetings address the need for“market oriented exchange rates” andthe fund’s growing role in “rebalanc-ing” the global economy.

“As America saves more those coun-tries that were overly reliant on exportsto the United States in the run up to thecrisis will need to change their policies,”

LONDON - Bank of England policymakers will this week consider pumping more new moneyinto Britain’s fragile economy, following fresh stimulus measures taken by the Bank of Japan tobolster a weak recovery.

cent on Thursday, it may also indi-cate moves towards fresh stimulusmeasures.

The US Federal Reserve hasmeanwhile hinted that it may adoptsimilar plans if recovery falters inthe world’s biggest economy.

The Bank of Japan on Tues-day announced an asset purchasescheme in an expansion of earlierefforts to generate demand, boost li-quidity and tackle persistent defla-tion.

It said it would examine es-tablishing a temporary fund to buyabout 5.0 trillion yen (60 billion dol-lars) in assets such as governmentbonds, commercial paper, corporatebonds and exchange traded funds.

The BoE’s own asset pur-chase scheme, known as quantitativeeasing (QE), has seen it effectivelycreate some 200 billion pounds (230billion euros, 317 billion dollars) ofnew money by purchasing govern-ment bonds and high-quality privatesector assets.

The scheme ended in Febru-ary but analysts believe the BoE’sMonetary Policy Committee (MPC)will soon have to revisit the policygiven the risks facing Britain.

“While perhaps not a majorrisk this month, the chances of theMPC resuming its QE operationshave increased recently amid fearsthat the UK recovery is losing mo-mentum and that activity could bedealt a downward jolt from the pro-posed cuts in public spending,” saidInvestec economist Philip Shaw.

Britain came out of a record-length downturn in late 2009 butsome economists fear another roundof brutal austerity measures, duefrom the government in two weeks, could help tip the economy into adouble-dip recession.

The BoE slashed interest ratesto the record low 0.50 percent inMarch 2009, when it also launchedQE in an attempt to drag Britain outof a deep recession sparked by theglobal financial crisis.

EU, Malaysia to startfree trade talks

said in a statement. The talks will comprise four main

areas of negotiations — market ac-cess for goods and services, invest-ment, trade facilitation issues andeconomic cooperation, according tothe statement.

“Stemming from this new bilat-eral development, Prime MinisterNajib proposed that the first roundof talks should be held this year totake advantage of the positive mo-mentum,” the ministry said.

The EU is a key trade and invest-ment partner for Malaysia. In 2009,the EU accounted for 11.2 percentof Malaysia’s global trade and 10.8percent of Malaysia’s total exports.

As a regional grouping, the EUremains Malaysia’s largest source offoreign direct investment with a to-tal investment inflow of 13.6 billion

dollars last year, mainly in manufac-turing.

The EU has held free trade talkswith Singapore — the region’s mostdeveloped economy — and expectsto conclude them by the end of nextyear. It has also agreed to open freetrade talks with Vietnam.

The EU has abandoned efforts tonegotiate a trade pact with ASEANas a whole, publicly citing differentlevels of economic developmentwithin the 10-member alliance.

Diplomats have said, however, that the change is also due to dis-agreements over the human rightsrecord of military-ruled ASEANmember Myanmar.

The EU still maintains sanctionson Myanmar, including a travel banon regime figures, a freeze of theirassets and an arms embargo.

a senior US official said on Tuesday.“The IMF has a very important role

to play, in this process of surveillance, insuring progress toward rebalancingstrengthens.”

As part of that rebalancing IMFmembers are also expected to discusshow to reform decision-making at thefund, giving more say to emerging anddeveloping economies.

Europe, seen as a major loser fromthe reshuffle, has been reluctant to re-duce its voting share or representationon the IMF’s decision-making board.

European finance ministers lastweek agreed to review representationat the Washington-based internationallender, but attached significant condi-tions.

Of the 24 seats on the IMF’s board,Europe currently holds nine and said itwas willing to rotate two of those spotswith emerging markets.

Observers have called for a five per-cent shift in the institution’s votingpower from advanced to emerging anddeveloping economies.

More than two years after the col-lapse of Lehman Brothers, the IMF onTuesday warned that the financial sys-tem was still the “Achilles’ heel of theeconomic recovery.”

Particularly at risk are the richestregions — Europe, Japan and theUnited States — while emerging mar-kets remain “very resilient.”

But despite these concerns, the up-coming IMF meeting is likely to seepressure piled on Europe not to pullaway from stimulus spending tooquickly, which the United States fearscould risk plunging the global economyback into recession.

TORONTO – Robert De Niro isretiring. On screen, at least. In hislatest film, the psychological drama“Stone,” De Niro stars as a veteranparole officer ending his career ina showdown with a manipulativeinmate (Edward Norton) and se-duction by the prisoner’s wife(Milla Jovovich).

At 67, De Niro himself has noretirement plans, though he

does foresee an end to onefacet of his film career. Af-ter two outings as a direc-tor, he figures he has timeto oversee three more mov-ies, at most.

“They take a lot out ofme,” he said in an interviewat September’s Toronto In-ternational Film Festival, where “Stone” debuted.“They’re great to do, butjust the way I did the twothat I did (1993’s ‘A BronxTale’ and 2006’s ‘The GoodShepherd’) and the onesthat I would do, I say tomyself, maybe I would do

five altogether. So three more.”That’s three, tops, De Niro makes clear, talking about the time com-

mitment of years required as a director, compared to just weeks for someroles as an actor.

Thirteen years passed between his first and second directing gigs ashe maintained a busy acting schedule while developing potential film-making projects and trying to line up studio backing.

“It’s an uphill battle. ... The creative part, that’s difficult enough. Butthe fun stuff is all the other stuff that goes with it: people; the input fromstudios, and all the people who have to justify their jobs; and the money;and is this actor going to get more, or they’re not right for it. All theother things. It’s a lot you’ve got to field. A lot coming at you,” he said.

That’s also a lot of words coming from the typically close-lipped DeNiro, so you know he means it. Among possible future directing plans isanother installment of “The Good Shepherd” saga, De Niro’s epic taleof the roots of the CIA that starred Matt Damon. But nothing’s definite, unlike De Niro’s on-screen career and his sideline as co-founder of theTribeca Film Festival, launched to help revitalize lower Manhattan afterthe Sept. 11 attacks.

Along with “Stone,” De Niro co-starred in Robert Rodriguez’s re-venge romp “Machete” and reteams with Ben Stiller for this December’s“Little Fockers,” the third chapter in the “Meet the Parents” comedyfranchise.

De Niro has two other movies in the can — the action tale “TheKiller Elite” and the thriller “The Dark Fields” — and he’s doing aquick three-week shoot in Italy for the anthology romance “Manual ofLove 3.”

He’s also set to star as Vince Lombardi in a film biography about theGreen Bay Packers coach and hopes to do a sequel to his 1988 crimecomedy “Midnight Run.”

Spider-Man may be the hero onthe stage, but it is Cohl who mightbe considered the production’s sav-ior after he came in and financiallystabilized a musical that had beendogged by money problems. “Thebudget’s OK,” he says. “It’s a newbudget every day.”

When open, this reported $60million show will have 41 cast mem-bers, 18 orchestra members andabout 18 new songs by U2’s Bonoand the Edge. It will have as its mainlead a singer in a rock band whosebiggest acting credit so far is inTaymor’s upcoming adaptation of“The Tempest.”

Yet there seems no panic, no

LONDON - Liverpool’s board of directors agreed Wednesday to sell the English football gi-ants to the owner of the Boston Red Sox baseball team, despite fierce opposition from the side’scurrent American owners. The deal with New England Sports Ventures (NESV) is subject toapproval by the Premier League and a legal battle with Tom Hicks and George Gillett, whobought the club three years ago and tried to scupper the latest bid.

offers, one from NESV and the otherreportedly from Asia. Broughton hit outat the pair, saying: “I am only disap-pointed that the owners have tried ev-erything to prevent the deal from hap-pening and that we need to go throughlegal proceedings in order to completethe sale.”

He said the board had met NESV inBoston, London and Liverpool in re-cent weeks and he was “immenselyimpressed with what they haveachieved and with their vision forLiverpool Football Club.” “By remov-ing the burden of acquisition debt, thisoffer allows us to focus on investmentin the team,” he added.

The statement said, however, that thesale was “conditional on PremierLeague approval, resolution of the dis-pute concerning board membership andother matters”. New England SportsVentures is a group headed by JohnWilliam Henry II and Tom Werner.

Broughton was appointed as inde-pendent chairman as part of the saleprocess in April, meaning Gillett andHicks no longer had a majority vote andcould not prevent any sale that the board

viewed as being in the club’s best in-terests. The American pair have be-come increasingly unpopular onMerseyside with supporters blamingthe duo for Liverpool’s fall from grace,as the 18-time champions languish inthe Premier League relegation zone. Hicks wanted to replace them withhis son, Mack Hicks, and a close asso-ciate Lori Kay McCutcheon. Cassano missed out on the WorldCup as Lippi refused to pick him fortwo years, but Zambrotta refutedspeculation that it was because ofveteran players such as himself thatthe 28-year-old Cassano, a favouriteof Prandelli’s, was not offered an-other chance.

“It wasn’t due to us veteranswhether or not he went to the WorldCup. At the time the question wasbetween him and Lippi,” saidZambrotta. “The problems were be-tween the two of them but now he’shere and I’m happy for that. “It’s truethat we don’t have any world classplayers but Antonio, (Mario) Balotelliand (Andrea) Pirlo prove that Italianfootball still has some talent.”

“In the second set, he just sentme out of the court. I didn’t havetoo many answers, he was playingfast, he was going for big shots andI was making them,” Tursunovsaid.

“So at the beginning of the thirdset, I wasn’t too confident in my-self winning the match, but acouple of points here and there, hemade a couple of easy mistakes. With Rubens Barrichello having battled to a fine sixth place on theSingapore streets, Michael said the team was heading to Suzuka in confi-dent mood with the top eight positions firmly in its sights.

“Suzuka is a high downforce circuit with a figure of eight layout,” hesaid. “The track has it all, but one of its highlights is the fantastic Essessection. Being able to deliver a strong sector time across that part of the lapis one of the best indicators of a driver’s ability.

“Both cars will be running our final upgrade components and we expectto run them all weekend. Our target will be for both FW32s to be fightingfor points among the top eight contenders and to therefore be racing forpoints.”

Like many of his rivals, Barrichello said he regarded Suzuka as one ofhis favourite circuits on the calendar and said he was optimistic of a strongweekend from the team.

“I love going to this race, it’s in my top three of all the tracks wevisit,” he said. “It’s a big effort to get there, especially from Brazil, butyou quickly forget about that when you engage first gear and leave thegarage for the first time. Suzuka is a lovely circuit. It’s a very highspeed track and has lots of high speed corners. You really have to be onit all the time.

“I’m fortunate enough to have raced in Japan since 1993 and it’s won-derful to keep going back. We will have to wait and see how we go but I amoptimistic that we can do well again this weekend.”

Casey Stoner is quietly confi-dent he can make it three MotoGPrace wins in a row at Sepang ashe looks to build on his currentrun of good form. The Australianreturned to the winners’ circle forthe first time this season atMotorland Aragon before goingon to reinforce his and Ducati’sreturn to prominence with a vic-tory in the Japanese Grand Prix.

Travelling immediately toKuala Lumpar and the MalaysianGrand Prix, Stoner is delightedthe hard work is beginning pay offnow and is feeling good about hischances of completing a hat-trick.“Motegi was our biggest questionmark about set up and we had toreally work hard to make the bikestable for the really heavy brak-ing,” he said. “Sepang isn’t toomuch about that, so we can mayberaise the bike back up again andget our traction a little better andsee what happens. But we canhopefully expect to have the bikeworking well there.

“We’ve all been giving 120 percent all season but it’s just theselast two races we’re getting some-thing back from it. It’s a huge, huge difference for us. Going intothese next two races is a big clumpin a small space for us, of course, but if things keep going like theyare we definitely have a goodchance of doing well again onSunday”
