surroUndinG areaThe Borough of Edinboro is a thriving rural community with unique shops and numerous eateries that transforms into a lake resort during the summer months, offers nearby downhill skiing in the winter and features year-round recreational and cultural opportunities
The EU campus is located just 20 minutes south of Erie, Pennsylvania’s fourth largest city, and almost equal distance between and with easy Interstate highway access to the major cultural and metropolitan areas of Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Buffalo. The Boro’s proximity to Erie affords our students access to a professional symphony, an acclaimed community theater, professional sports teams in basketball, hockey and baseball, art museums, indoor and outdoor waterparks, a large shopping district and seven miles of beaches at Presque Isle State Park on Lake Erie.
The city also provides students with a variety of public transportation options, including the Greyhound bus line, Amtrak and the Erie International Airport.

faCiLities overView and standoUtsEdinboro students find excellence in our state-of-the-art facilities:
• A simulated crime scene laboratory in the Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice prepares students for on-scene identification, collection, preservation and documentation of evidence.
• Recent renovations and equipment upgrades at Edinboro’s Cooper Science Center have created the most up-to-date science facility in the region.
• The Dr. William P. Alexander Music Center houses 17 soundproofed music studios, 14 piano studios, a listening laboratory and library, classroom space and 104-seat recital hall.
• Baron-Forness Library is the largest and most comprehensive academic library in northwestern Pennsylvania with nearly 420,000 volumes, 700,000 microform units and access to over 100 databases.
• As part of a recent building expansion, Butterfield Hall was outfitted with enhanced technological access, science and math labs, a literacy center and an integrated arts classroom.
• Designed with input from faculty to meet the highly specialized needs of the departments of Nursing and Speech, Language and Hearing, the Human Services Building includes three high-fidelity human-patient simulator rooms, allowing for simulation of clinical situations within an interactive and safe learning environment.
• Connecting the east and west sides of campus, EU’s new elevated pedestrian walkway opened for use in January 2014, and is designed to provide students – particularly students with disabilities – with easier accessibility between academic, residential and other facilities. It is wifi enabled throughout and is enclosed for protection from the weather.
• The EU observatory’s new Celestron Edge HD telescope has the ability to lock on and automatically track objects for long exposures, allowing observers to see very faint, distant objects; produce high-quality images of stars, planets, nebulae, galaxies, comets and more; capture high-resolution light spectra from objects; be remotely controlled from a distant site; and use GPS tracking to view any named stars and planets.
