the beauchamp hoteldarlinghurst[ by paul ocolisan design ]

style + longevity were at the centre of the owners brief to paul ocolisan for the re-design of the beauchamp hotel. a contemporary interior has been carefully woven into this historic location to create a pub that feels as if it has always been there, part of the local fabric, yet with more than a few suprises to tempt an increasingly design savvy generation of ‘pub goers’.

paul ocolisan, now a senior designer with edge, was responsible for design concept, development + documentation.

screening + a unique lighting concept formed the basis of paul’s theatrical make-over of the soda bar at the golden sheaf in double bay.

our design process

[phase 1 - design strategies and planningat the design planning meeting, edge will format a brief for the project, based on an understanding of the client’s design objectives and any project constraints. planning, image, market positioning and branding will be discussed.

[phase 2 - design conceptpreliminary design presentation of the project, incorporating floor plans, elevations, finishes + any visuals needed to explain the proposed design concept.

[phase 3 - design developmentin phase three, the design concept is refined and detailed for the client to approve prior to proceeding with documentation of the project.

[phase 4 - construction documentationpreparation of full construction documentation, specifications + schedules for client approval, builder/shopfitter tender, and submission to appropriate bodies. eg. council and/or centre management if needed.
