1. INTRODUCTION
Climate change and its impacts are accelerating their pace and putting pressure on local communities worldwide. Adaptation to climate change will become a necessary step in reducing the vulnerability of many regions around the world, especially in urban areas, where it has been shown that climate change will have particularly destabilizing effects. In fact, cities, in addition to producing significant amounts of greenhouse gases (from sectors such as transport, buildings and waste management) are particularly vulnerable due to their concentration of people and goods, and the degradation of protective ecosystems.
According to the capacity of local governments, to the proportion of residents linked to infrastructure and risk reduction services, and to the proportion of people living in dwellings built with adequate standards. Resilience to extreme weather for the urban population is strongly influenced by the effectiveness of spatial planning. Urban settlement models are a critical factor in the interaction between urbanization, climate-related risks, and vulnerability. This project has been presented within the framework of the Erasmus + call that aims to fill a gap in higher education programs, focusing on the development and planning of renewable energy sources (RES). Architects and planners are often unaware of energy planning and RES technologies. On the other hand, RES development experts (mainly engineers) do not have competences in regional planning and landscape architecture. In addition, the fast and continuous development of technological innovations in the field of renewable energy sources hinders the integration of renewable energy planning into teaching practices and traditional higher education curricula. This Workshop met the objectives set in the Project according to its established schedule.
