Scope and role of workstreams

• Develop and transfer (teach & implement) best practice ECR and success stories across Europe

• Launch, coach, co-ordinate, support ECR projects and their implementation to ensure alignment and consistency at European & national level (if topic of European relevance) and collaboration between retailers and suppliers

• Develop and recommend KPIs for implementation (+ endorse business KPIs recommended by projects)

Objectives & deliverables of workstreams

• Project Development– Drives innovation in new ECR improvement concepts and

processes– Leverages work undertaken at national level to European scale, if

appropriate– Initiates, governs and tracks European and national projects– Checks deliverables of projects and KPIs against objectives of

ECR Europe– Provides joint vision to all projects at European & national level

and ensures coherence of approach– Co-Chairs : Rita Marzian, Metro

Luc Demeulnenaere, P&G Co-ordinator : Katrin Recke, AIM

Objectives & deliverables of workstreams

• Learning– Progressive Management Programme (PMP): Furthers

leadership in collaborative business practices by small groups of high-potential junior & middle managers

– General Learning Programme (GLP): Effects a broad-scale change in collaborative management behaviour across our industry (‘massification’)

– The Quest for New Knowledge: Develops new thinking and research on collaborative business management (Academic Partership role)

Co-Chairs : retailer, tbc Bob Wilkinson, CokeCo-ordinator : Bernard Karli, ECR

Objectives & deliverables of workstreams

• Implementation– Champions implementation of ECR practices (from blue book and

pilot to day-to-day process)– Drives implementation of global standards (e.g. data

synchronisation, RFID)– Develops KPI’s and measures implementation of ECR practices

and global standards (with the help of the ECR global scorecard). Makes recommendations to tackle non-implementation

– Validates advantages of ECR co-operation (‘the business case for ECR’) vs resource levels reqd

Co-Chairs : retailer, tbc Vicki Belcher, GilletteCo-ordinator : Marianne Dehousse, AIM

Example: Alignment of EU project launch, execution & implementation

• Project launch– Potential European project topic identified and proposed by

Nationals. Agreed in principle by ECR Board & Board sponsor designated

– Project brief drafted and submitted to Advisory Group for approval– Call for nominations sent to ECR community

• Project execution– Project ideally organised around Development, Learning,

Implementation (+ Conference and Communication) - CRM, OSA and shrinkage already organising work accordingly

• Project implementation– EU Project team to agree KPI’s, measure results and report on

implementation and national roll-out
