Abstract :Application of the principles of ecology in a village is very important

in realizing an environmentally urban development. As happened in

Gununganyar tambak village, where the majority of the people work as

fishermen and fish farmers. The fishing settlement has relatively poor

environmental conditions. The role of the community can be seen in the field of

tourism in the form of utilization of mangrove as objects of tourism (ecotourism).

The featured commodities of the settlement comprising fisheries production,

aquaculture, fisheries processing, such as crab, crabs and other marine fish.

The overall environmental aspects and the role of the community can support

    the creation of an eco-village.

    Keywords: eco-village, environmental, fishing village

    INTRODUCTION

Every (construction) development needs to pay a close attention to theenvironment, because environment is the pillar of a sustainable development. Failing to

consider the environmental factors will not only result in a damage environment, but

will also threathen the sustainability of the development itself. In the process, a

development should optimize the utilization of natural resources, human resources,

science and technology in harmonious and sustainable way.

In order to determine the ecological system of a development, we need to use

several approach systems such as physical systems, social systems, economic systems,

as well as cultural systems. These approaches are closely related to the people who

inhabit the region. Our purpose is a population that live in a good quality of living,

physically and economically; Families, friends, neighbours, and the community live

well; People can do leisure and recreational activities without any problem. We expect

to have a sustainable community such as in the form of ecovillage.

In addition to a community where people know each other well and influencing

one and another, the settlements should provide full facilities, human activities are

harmlessly integrated into the natural world, support healthy human development, and

can be successfully continued into the indefinite future. In the principle of the

sustainability, human life and nature are integrated not only in the short term, but will

remain so in the future. The principles of sustainability bring deep commitment to the

life in the world to the future.

THE POTENTIAL OF GUNUNGANYAR TAMBAK AS A FISHING VILLAGE

Fishermen Settlement Region is a group of housing with its supporting facilities

and infrastructure where majority of the settlers work as fishermen and fish farmers.

Specifically, we study a settlement located in the Village of Gununganyar Tambak in

RW I and RW II. The environmental conditions of the settlement are relatively poor.

needed to built sustainable development. These are explanation of the system approach

of sustainable development in Gununganyar Tambak village :

    1. Physical Systems

Infrastructure and facilities in Gununganyar Tambak village were supplied withthe help of outsiders, both governmental and private. Neighborhood streets repaired

regularly by the government. Additionally drainage is established and connected with

    sewerage into rivers.

An Infrastructure system that is still not well established is the sewage system in

every home residents. Almost all houses do not have their own latrines, so their waste

    flow directly into the river.

    Figure 2 : Physical Condition

    2. Social SystemGununganyar Tambak villagehave a social life that involves all citizens. Like

the other settlements, the village consists of RW and RT. There are 2 RW, that is RW I

    and RW II.

In addition, the fishermen in the village has a bevy of fishing and have a

chairman chosen from among the fishermen themselves. Chairman of the fishermen

elected every few years. The chairman usually accommodate the fishermen when there

is a meeting or other event involving fishermen.

    3. Economy System

The fishermen of Gununganyar Tambakdo not sell their catches directly. Afterfishing all night and return in the morning or early afternoon, the collectors are ready to

collect their catch. There is a collection point facility there.

After collecting the catches from the fishermen, gatherers separate the catches

according to their type. For example, crab, mussels, fish, and so on. Some of the catch

are brought to the market, some crab are also brought to the processing plant after

    boiling in the collection points.

Many of the motor boats are not owned by the fishermen or the motor boats are

on credit loaned by the collector. For that, most of the fishermen do not receive all of

their income. Many deductions to their income are for rent or boat loans.

    4. Culture SystemCulture which took place in the life of the fishing community undergoes a

transformation from time to time. Previously fishermen using canoes or paddle boats to

sail on. Now they use a motor boat, so they can go further to the sea.

Additionally their mindset and their consumptive patterns also changed. In the

past, few of fishermen families had electricity and electronic equipment in their homes.

Currently, almost all of them have electronic equipments, they even have cellphones to

    communicate.

SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES TO REALIZE THE ECO VILLAGE

Armed with the capability to think, human beings discovered ways to utilize the

resources the Earth had accumulated in the past. In the past, the law of nature ensured

this balance. Today, the law of nature still applies. However, with our capability to

utilize the reserved resources, human beings have a choice to make. We could continue

to use up all the reserved resources and let our children suffer the consequence of

resource starvation. Or, we could aggressively move away from non-renewable

resources and put ourselves on a sustainable footing once and for all.

Our ability to think coupled with our greed has led us on a collision course with

Mother Nature. If we continue on this path, a final showdown with Mother Nature isimminent. However, this is not necessarily the only course for human beings. If our

ability to think is coupled with our care for future generations, we will be able to strike a

balance between current needs and future needs. That way, we will make peace with

Mother Nature. This is the only way to build a sustainable society. These are the

characteristics of a sustainable society :

Living with the quality of both physical and economic

The life of family, friends, neighbors, and community work well

Relaxed, recreation, activities ofpeople that others can run without interruption.

Of these characteristics can be said that in Gununganyar Tambak village have

been characterized sustainable society although there are still infrastructure that is not in

fully good quality, such as the sewage system. Almost all the houses in this village with

a permanent stone base material. Four houses left are non-permanent and will soon

receive help to build their homes permanently.

Social life in Gununganyar Tambak also went well. This always can be seen by

greet each other when they met at the front of their house. Security is also maintained in

this fishery village. Society often relax on the terraces of their homes. Community

activities beside fishing also run smoothly, such as repairing their nets on the porch or

    the front of their house.

Starting from the sustainable society will be able to create a sustainable eco-

village in support of Sustainable Development.

ECO-VILLAGEAS A FORM OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Eco-villages are intentional communities with the goal of becoming more socially,

economically and ecologically sustainable. Some aim for a population of 50150

individuals. Larger ecovillages of up to 2,000 individuals exist as networks of smaller

subcommunities to create an ecovillage model that allows for social networks within a

    broader foundation of support.

Good city should use the rules Sapta-E: ecology, economy, energy, employment, equity,

ethics, and aesthetics. However, the most important thing now is ecology. The concept

of Eco-Village written by Robert Gilman (1991) in a study. In his writings, Gilman

defined Eco-villages as four points :

    A Human-scale Community

community where people know each other well and influencing one and another

    Full-featured Settlement

What is meant here is the main requirement for life, shelter, food, work, leisure

time, social life, and commerce, that really available in balanced proportions. The

majority of land use in urban, sub-urban, and rural areas, divided by function, such

as housing, commerce, industry, and so on. This division is usually too large for

human scale, even for a single function.

Human Activities are Harmlessly Integrated into The Natural World

At this point, explaining that human activities is not harmful to nature. Human can

not dominate nature, but humans must live with nature, so the quality of human life

    and nature achieve an ideal.

The other the principle is re-use of existing natural resources and using renewable

energy that is less polluting than non-renewable energy.

    Support Healthy Human Development

Human health is needed to balance the increase in all aspects of human life are the

physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Increasing healthy life not only to the

lives of individuals, but also social life.

Can be successfully continued into the indefinite future
