Overview• The design philosophy of the system is

incorporated into it’s name, which reflects it’s inclusive nature.

• The Nintendo Wii is the brainchild of the company’s latest efforts to innovate rather than stick with proven formula.

• Designed around enhancing user interactivity, emphasizing original and fresh game-play over extreme enhancements in graphical presentation.

to judge motion, tilt, depth, and pitch. Also acts as a pointer.• Features rumble, on/off switch, speaker, Directional pad, A, B, home, plus,

minus, and synchronization buttons on the front face.• Can connect to a number of add-on devices• The controller essentially acts as an extension of the arm

Controller Accessories• The Wii-Remote is designed to work with

attatchments• The Nunchuk:

– Analog stick on front face– Two buttons located on the front: C and Z– Also has a built-in accelerometer

• Classic Controller:– Operates by plugging into the Wii-Remote to

function wirelessly – Features a Directional pad, two analog

sticks, X, Y, A, B, select, home, and start, buttons on the front face.

– Two Z buttons located on the top– Used for games unsuited for the remote,

such as classic games downloaded from the Wii channel, or fighting games.

Price, Release, Availibilty

• Pricing:– Console is priced at $279.99 CDN– Games $60-$70– Virtual Console games $5-$25– Wii Remote $45– Nunchuk $25– Classic Controller $25

• Release:– Worldwide launch on Nov.19.– System includes 1 remote, 1 nunchuk, and WiiSports

• Availibility:– Nintendo plans to release 4 million units globally by the end of the year– Expected to be more than 400,00 units shipped to Canada on launch

Software• Games:

– 29 Launch games. Most notably The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Call of Duty 3, Madden 2007, Need for Speed: Carbon, Red Steel, Rayman; Raving Rabbids, and Excite Truck..

– Fully backwards compatible with the GameCube game library.

– Can download classic NES (Nintendo Entertainment System), Super NES, Nintendo 64, TurboGrafx-16, MSX and SEGA Genesis games via Virtual Console.

• WiiConnect 24– A free service that allows the Wii console to

communicate with the Internet, even if the system itself is shut off.

– Implementations include the rapid delivery of new content or game updates without the need to have the system on.

Channels

• The Nintendo Wii employs a unique “Channels” system to allow users to navigate content the console offers.

• The Wii can have a total of 48 channels. Some are free, while others must be purchased using “WiiPoints”
