8A Teacher Education Refresh programme Successful completion of the Teacher Education Refresh (TER) programme is a requirement for teachers renewing their Provisional practising certificate six years after they were first granted a Provisional practising certificate. The TER programme is a programme of study and supervised practicum focused on the current New Zealand education “landscape” and changes that have occurred over the last six years. The TER programme is delivered by providers approved by the Education Council and is based on a curriculum developed and owned by the Education Council. If you have completed two years of teaching employment in a position of 0.5 FTTE or more within the last five years, participated in an induction and mentoring programme during that time and your professional leader can endorse that you have met all of the Practising Teacher Criteria with evidence, you may apply for a Full practising certificate on an EC20 form. If you have completed a new ITE programme in the last six years, or since you were last granted a Provisional practising certificate, please provide a certified copy of the qualification. Otherwise you do not need to provide certified copies of your qualifications to the Education Council.
