    Feedback

Feedback is the primary thing that allows us to grow

The only thing that we learn from is mistakes.

Have short feedback loopsTo find out as quickly as possible if it's working, or not.

The better we understand ourselves, others, the environment, and the way it "really works"

The more intentional success we can create. The way to understand yourself, others, and the environment more closely is to include feedback in the system.

The faster you implement, the faster you get feedback, and the faster you'll learn.

    If you don't know

How the results connect to the feedback,Or how what you do affects the feedback

then you don't know if what you are doing is useful or not. Systems Thinking

Setting conditions and building systems is what matters

You get success not because you are out there doing it all the timeBut because the systems are set up and running smoothing. Then success emerges.

    Work on the system

Forget goalsForget slogansForget getting yourself pumped up

Think in systems That the components are moving and interacting with each other

All systems are highly sensitive to initial conditions

The choice of what parts to put in a system is key.Initial conditions stay with the system for ever

The harder you push, the harder the system pushes back.

If you change one thing, other parts in the system are going to change in order to compensate. No one part will affect, by itself, the behaviour of the system.

Emergence can't be predicted or overseen.

The greatest leverage is in the interactions

To improve the system, work on improving the interactions between the components

By decreasing the frictionBy increasing the throughput

The highest energy loss occurs in the interactions as well.

Put your energy on optimising the interactions

In a complex system, each component has total power

to sop the system from workingor dramatically reduce its effectivenessOptimising the components usually does not have as much upside leverage

When you look at a system, become part of it.Project yourself into each component.Notice how you affect the other parts of the system and how they affect you.

    Setting conditions

We get very little willpowerThe highest leverage thing we can do with it is to create habitsContinually invest whatever resources and influence you have into the conditions for a system where what emerges is success.

    Continually optimise it.

Inevitability thinkingWhat do I want to happen?

And which conditions should I set in place so that what I want to happen inevitably happens?

Conditions are not actionsKeep going upstream until it is not an action anymore

Idealised DesignWe start wit the ideal situation

Rather than the existing oneAnd then work backwards how to make it happen
