What is LIVE FOOD?• For years nutritionists have categorized foods into groups — meats, grains, legumes, fruits, etc. — and by now we’re all familiar with the popular “food pyramids.” But there is another way of thinking about and categorizing the foods we eat, a way that may actually offer much more meaning and value than our more traditional distinctions: What if we thought about foods in terms of whether or not they are alive?

The Original Diet

• In order to know what are the best foods, we must study God's original plan for man's diet. He who created man and who understands his needs appointed Adam his food. "Behold," He said, "I have given you every herb yielding seed, Gen 1. . . . and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for food." Upon leaving Eden to gain his livelihood by tilling the earth under the curse of sin, man received permission to eat also "the herb of the field." {CD 81.1}

Grains, fruits, nuts, and vegetables constitute the diet chosen for us by our Creator. These foods, prepared in as simple and natural a manner as possible, are the most healthful and nourishing. They impart a strength, a power of endurance, and a vigor of intellect, that are not afforded by a more complex and stimulating diet. {CD 81.2}

The basic idea behind all live foods is the same though: retaining the very best that natural foods have to offer, including live enzymes, antioxidants and other nutrients.

The naturally occurring enzymes, nutrients and pure, filtered water found in living foods are all vital to our health and immunity, and most experts agree they can never be sufficiently replaced by supplements and powders

The healthiest way to enjoy these foods is as a first course. Leafy greens can be digested quickly if eaten on an empty stomach.
