In1992,PresidentFidelV.Ramos,byvirtueofProclamationNo.60,declaredthelastweek

ofSeptemberofeveryyearasFamilyWeek.In1996,thesamePresidentdeclaredvia

ProclamationNo.847thefourthSaturdayofSeptemberofeveryyearasFamily

ThanksgivingDay.ThesePresidentialProclamationsweremadetofocusonthe

importanceofstrengtheningandpromotingunity,solidarityandstabilityofthe

FilipinofamilyasthebasicunitofFilipinosocietyandforwhosewell-beingall

nationaldevelopmenteffortsaredirected.

Threeyearsago,apopularbrandtookthisonandtranslateditintoacampaignthat

promotedtheimportanceoffamilymeals.Thisisnocoincidence,butGods-incidenceled

bytheHolySpirit.Morethandeclarationsandadvertisementcampaigns,weinCFCwanttoputthisintoactionandwewouldliketoexhorteachandeveryCFCfamilytodothe

followingactivitiesasafamilyonSeptember27,2013dinnertimetostartoffourfamily

weekend.

InBerniDymetsbooktitledHowtoStopYourFamilyfromFallingApart,hementioned3

basicthingswemustdotokeepourfamiliestogetherEat,Play&Pray .Hence,wewould

liketoapplythesesimplelearningstoourCFCFamilyWeekCelebration.

MechanicsoftheCFCFamilyWeekCelebration:

1. CFCCouplesaretosetafamilydinnerwiththeirownfamiliesonSeptember27,2013,Friday,withtheirchildrenorevenwiththeirgrandchildren.Thiscouldbe

doneathomeorattheirfavoritefamilyrestaurant.

2. Prepareororderthefamilysfavoritedishordesert.3. Beforeeatingdistribute1/8pieceofpapertoeverymemberorthefamily,andask

themtowritedown:Whatdoyouappreciatemostaboutacertainmemberofthe

family?withoutindicatingwhoisitforandwhoitcamefrom.

4. Collectallthewrittenpiecesofpaperandputitinaboxorfishbowlorclearplasticbag.Youwillopenandreadthemlaterafterthedinner.

5. Asusual,startthemealwithblessingofthefood/sayinggracebeforemealsandalloweachonetofinisheatingfirstbeforestartingwiththeactivity.

6. Afterthedinner,MommyorDaddybringsouttheboxwiththepiecesofpaperandwillaskeachmember,oneatatimetogetonepaperregardlesswhowroteitand

thenreadeachonealoud.

7. Afterreadinganote,thefamilymemberswillguesswhomitisforandwhowrotethenote.Anyonecanmakeaguessorcommentbuttheonewhowroteitmustlater

onadmitit.Afterwhichthenextmemberofthefamilygetsachancetoopenand

readanothernote.

householdprayermeetingbutmorefocusingonthanksgivingandsupplications.
