Display, Operate, Switch, Control, Regulate and Communicate – Simple with: easy and MFD-Titan

Many applications in industry or building automation and in the fields of mecha-nical or equipment engineering are covered by a device from the easy control relayfamily or MFD-Titan. Multiple device variants with differing functionalities, exten-dibility and degrees of protection (IP65 on the MFD-80.. display, otherwise IP20) are available for solutions in the individual applications. The MFD-Titan MFD-80..back-lit display with full graphic capabilities can be operated as a “separate“ display with the easy’s. Graphics, operating or message text, date, time, etc. are represented on the display. The MFD-Titan offers all the features of the easy800.You simply input your circuit diagram 1:1 into the device as an easy wiring configuration or with the aid of the easy-soft software that supports you in all the functions on the PC. You can read the current flow path of your circuit diagram immediately on the device or the PC. This active current flow display saves valuable time. Many different languages can be selected for the device andthe software.

As well as the functions of easy500/700,such as multi-function timing relays,impulse relays, counters, analog valuecomparators, time switches, DST change,retentive actual values, easy800 featuresa number of function blocks such as PIDcontrollers, arithmetic function blocks,value scaling, and many more.... Easy 700/800 is expandable and can be connected to standard bus systems.Contacts and coils can be connected inrungs, in series or in parallel. A rung consists of several contacts and one coil. Operating or message texts can be displayed on internal or externaldisplays.

Multi-function display

Visualization, display and control functions with the MFD-Titan. Protectionto IP65 on the MFD-80.. display meansthat it can also be used in rugged environments. MFD-Titan offers visualization functions in addition to the functions offered by easy800.Screen elements are provided for creating different display screens. Like easy800, MFD-Titan can also beexpanded and networked to standardbus systems via easy-NET. Eight easy800or MFD...CP8... devices can be configuredon each network. The MFD-80... displaycan also be provided with customisedinscriptions.

Lighting control systems in buildings:

• The lighting can be switched On and Off using a current surge function centrally or as a distributed function.

• The timer-controlled interrupt pulse can switch Off the lighting to save power.

• A base unit controls up to 12 independent lighting groups.Purpose-dedicated lighting control, such as central lightingfor cleaning work, automatic half-strength lighting for stair wells, or an early warning pulse for the lights-out phase can be configured.

• Installation in low-voltage distribution boards facilitated by the standard 45mm front dimension, as well as the component sizes of 4 times, 6 times, 8 times and 12 times the width of an MCB.

Machine control:

• A plug-in memory module enables the easy circuit diagram to be duplicated without the PC. Subsequently necessary modifications to the circuit can be carried out externally, and the memory module dispatched to transfer the modification to the easy.

• The fact that you can pre-set the start-up behaviour to operating modes RUN or STOP facilitates commissioning.

• Short-circuit recognition and selective disconnection of the transistor outputs upon short circuit and overload.

Control relay easy and multi-function display MFD-Titan are maintenance-free

The created program is stored retentively in the devices. An additional auxiliary supply or battery is not required. The control relay easy and multi-function display MFD-Titan are thus completely maintenance-free. However, not only the program and parameters are protected in the event of a power failure. Actual switching states and values are also retained in easy and MDF...CP8. This means, for example, that the actual values of operating hours counters, counters and timing relays can be further processed after the restart. Function block and data retention is possible for all easy types and for the multi-function display.

The easy OPC server is a new additionto Moeller's easy product range. OPCwas first introduced for the HMIsoftware in the PLC market in 1996 andstands for interoperability. OPC enablesPLC data to be accessed transparentlyand eliminates the need for theotherwise wide range of differentdrivers and interfaces required. The useof OPC (OLE for Process Control) iscontinuing to grow and the technologyis constantly being further developed.

Moeller's easy OPC server combines theWindows programming world directlywith the Moeller control relays easy500,700, 800 and the multi-function displayMFD-Titan.

All stations can be accessed via the easyOPC server in one easyNET networkconsisting of several easy control relays.A PC can be connected to any easyNETstation with an interface. The easy OPCserver simplifies visualization functions

and enables the extensive storage andfurther processing of data.

The easy OPC server offers direct dataaccess, regardless of whether thisinvolves meter values, operating hourscounters, the I/O states of systems ormachines. All marker states can likewisebe written back to the easy controlrelay or MFD-Titan, resets can becarried out or setpoints defined.

Moeller's new Labeleditor offers customers the ideal solution for laserinscribing symbols, company logos, text or graphics, individual characters,Asian, Cyrillic, Greek or Roman letterson a device, even in combination.

The new Labeleditor inscription softwareguides users directly through their

labelling task in the program. Moellercan then laser inscribe the device exactly to customer requirements.

New operator and control conceptfor textile machines

The newly enhanced machine seriesfrom Meyer presents the market withinnovative fixing and setting machines.It was MFD-Titan that enabled all theseimprovements. The new safety conceptincreases reliability and also simplifiesthe operator's job. All the functions can be set up as it were intuitively, andcan be readjusted if necessary on anergonomically designed and generouslyproportioned operator interface.MFD-Titan is a product that belongs to the next generation in automation,combining as it does control and visualisation functions in one unit. It requires just one software package for the control function, the visualisationand networking. This fact significantly reduced the time that had to be spenton engineering and programming bythe machine builder, Meyer.

Modular control concept for profilingsystems

The machine building company, WemaProbst, relies on the performance capability of MFD-Titan and EASY800 for its new soft-wood profiling system. The new multifunction display as itwere, incorporates the networking facility. This benefits the machine builder as well as his customer. WemaProbst is a successful specialist builderof machines and systems for soft-woodprocessing.Wema Probst's construction principlefirstly equips each part of the systemwith an autonomously operating control system. In the case of a complete installation being supplied,these individual control systems arethen networked and controlled as asystem. Operation and monitoring ofthe installation is carried out from oneMFD-Titan.

The expandable basic devicesof the easy700, easy800 andMFD-Titan® series enablecentral or decentral input/output expansion.

In conjunction with the EASY618-AC-RE, EASY618-DC-REor EASY620-DC-TE expansions,you can have a device with 24 inputs and up to 16 outputs.These three expansions are situated directly on the basic unit and are connected with an easy-Link interface.

Alternatively, a connection via the EASY200-EASY couplingmodule and a simple – up to 30 meter long – two-wire cable is possible. This is how compre-hensive or expanded circuits can be solved – simply easy.

Commanding, signalling, monitoringand controlling on bit level

A bus connection is worthwhile evenfor simple operating steps as found inproduction processes. The Actuator-Sensor Interface, or AS-i for short, canprovide 31 slaves simultaneously with248 binary data items. For machine building applications, AS-i is definitelythe right bus connection, since input/output data can be transferred withparticularly fast reaction times of only 5 ms. This makes it possible, forexample, to start up several motorssimultaneously in a materials handlingapplication.

The EASY205-ASI communicationmodule makes this bus connection particularly easy. It can be connectedcentrally via easy-Link to all expandableeasy basic units, i.e. the easy700 andeasy800 series as well as MFD-Titan. The two-wire AS-i cable is simply wired up to the module – that's it! Data exchange is then organised via a higher level AS-i master.

Transferring complex data

More powerful fieldbus systems such as Profibus-DP are used for complexautomation tasks involving the transport of large data sets, such as several analog values, setpoints,counter states or time parameters. With Profibus-DP up to 20 bytes of dataper station can be transferred with eachbus cycle, and up to 126 bus stationscan be linked together over a distanceof up to 1200 metres.
