This year I am personally delighted to welcome you to the Eastleigh Mela at the town centre. This event over the years has grown with the support with the residents of Eastleigh and the Borough Council, and with this in mind I hope it will be supported by all.
It is great that we have a wealth of talent in Eastleigh of crafts, music and dance from the diverse cultures within Eastleigh Borough. This community event is what we are about pulling together to create a fantastic event for all to enjoy.
I shall be looking forward to seeing you all at the Mela and hope you will be there to support my charities which are Marie Curie Cancer Care and Eastleigh Young Carers.

Make a difference today!
Police support volunteers are people with the time to give and the enthusiasm to make a difference. You don’t necessarily have to have any particular skills – although specialists are always welcome – just the right attitude and community values. The hours can usually be flexible to suit you and your commitments – as much or as little as you can spare.
You could be:
• A student looking for experience and something valuable for your CV.
• In employment and looking for some variety or a change of direction.
• Out of work and looking to brush up on your work skills or gain some new ones.
• Looking to return to the workplace after having or caring for children and wanting to learn new skills.
• Retired with skills you could put to good use with us in support of your community.
• Already active in your community and keen to get further involved.

What you need to know
Call us on 101 and ask to speak to the HR Service Centre. Find out more and apply to become a police support volunteer on our website, www.hampshire.police.uk, under the Vacancies and Recruitment section.
Once you have applied, you will be invited to a short interview where we will discuss how you would like to help and how much time you can give. You will also need to pass our security vetting. Once you are appointed as a police support volunteer, you will take part in an induction and be given training and support to enable you to carry out your role.
Did you know you could become a volunteer police officer?
Special constables give up their time to work as police officers, often in addition to their full time careers. They carry out exactly the same roles as police officers, from patrolling neighbourhoods to responding to emergency calls. Throughout the county retailers and other employers are engaging with Hampshire’s Employer Supported Policing Scheme. In return for supporting staff in their Special Constabulary training and duties, their employees provide a reassuring policing service to the retail area or community in which they work or live.

The Gurkhas are indigenous people from Nepal. The name “Gurkha” comes from the hill town of Gorkha. Gurkhas have been part of the British Army for almost 200 years.
The selection procedure for the regiment is famously tough requiring would-be recruits to run uphill for 40 minutes carrying a basket on their back filled with 32kg of rocks.
Our chefs bring their culinary experience gained in some of India’s leading 5 star hotels to Badi Mirchi. The traditional flavours in our menu reflect the diversity of cuisine India has to offer. We use the freshest and highest quality ingedients, locally sourced where possible. We do not use artificial colouring or flavouring.
