SCOReLeSS DRAW vS MIDWeSTeRN STATeEastern New Mexico played to a scoreless draw at home
against Midwestern State. In the previous three games
versus the Mustangs in Portales, the Greyhounds are
1-0-2. Eastern defeated MSU in 2011 and tied 2-2 last
season.
ROBeRTS SeTS ASSIST MARkSenior midfielder Julian Roberts set a new program
record for assists in a season as he recorded his eighth
against Lubbock Christian. He broke the previous mark
of seven that was set by Jonthan Holman in 2005 and
matched by Kal Herbert (2010) and Keith Vargas (2007).
eNMU WINNINg STReAk SNAPPeDWith a tie against the Mustangs, Eastern saw their five
game winning streak end. The streak is tied for the lon-
gest in school history that was set from Sept. 9-26, 2010.
50TH WIN FOR MUñOzHarold Muñoz picked up his 50th win at the helm of the
Greyhound soccer program as the team beat the Univer-
sity of the Southwest 3-0 on the road.
HeRBeRT'S SCORINg STReAk eNDSSenior midfielder Kal Herbert saw his consecutive game
scoring streak come to an end at Oklahoma Christian. His
streak was snapped at a school record six games. Herbert
set the school record against Dallas Baptist late in the
57th minute. The previous record was four games set by
by Ryan McClanahan in 2007 and matched by Emerson
Rodrigues in 2009.
FIRST HALF SCORINg SURge AT UTPBEastern New Mexico scored three goals in the first 25
minutes of the first half at Texas-Permian Basin as the
Greyhounds came away with a 4-2 victory. It was the
most goals ENMU has scored in the first half since also
scoring three against the University of the Southwest last
season (Oct. 1).
gReyHOUNDS SURvIve PIONeeRSThe Greyhounds needed overtime to defeat Dallas Baptist
2-1 even though they played the final 33 minutes of regu-
lation a man up. After the Pioneers tied the game late on
a penalty kick, freshman Jose Hernandez scored in the
96th minute to give ENMU a hard-fought win.
UNUSUAL TIeThe 2-2 tie against Texas A&M-International occurred
thanks to lighnting in the area that delayed the start by
just over an hour and a half. The delays caused the game
to be stopped by darkness with 6:12 left on the clock. This
is the first time in Greyhound history that a home game
was called because of darkness.
ROAD SHUTOUT FOR HOUNDSThe Greyhounds picked up their first victory of the season
with a 1-0 defeat of Colorado-Colorado Springs Friday
evening. It was longest they have gone into a season
before picking up their first road shutout since 2008 (14
games).

Harold Muñoz is entering his sixth season in charge of the men’s soccer program at Eastern New Mexico. In his time in Por-tales, Muñoz has compiled a 44-35-12 record including a 10-7-1 mark in 2012. In 2011, Muñoz helped lead the team to a Lone Star Conference Championship and were ranked 24th in the nation in early Sep-tember by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). During the year, the Hounds also established school records for most shutouts, lowest amount of goals conceded and fewest losses in a season. Muñoz guided the 2010 squad to new heights by leading the team to its first ever national ranking, debuting at 17th in the NSCAA national poll. The same season saw ENMU achieve another milestone by receiving its highest ever regional ranking, #2, in the South Central NSCAA Poll. In 2008, his first season as the Greyhounds head coach, he led the team to its best finish in the LSC at the time. Eastern ended the year third in the conference and were able to attain a #5 rank-ing in the NSCAA Division II South Central Region Poll on Septem-ber 30. The team also recorded historic first-time victories over conference rivals Northeastern State University and nationally-ranked West Texas A&M University. Prior to returning to Eastern New Mexico, Muñoz was the head women’s soccer coach at Midland Lutheran College during the 2007 season. That year the Warriors recorded one of their best seasons in program history with a 13-2-4 record and reached the finals of the NAIA Region V Tournament. The team set school records for the longest undefeated streak and the fewest losses in a season. During 2006, he served as both the men’s and women’s assistant coach at MLC. While attaining his master’s in sport administration at ENMU, Muñoz served as the graduated assistant coach for the Grey-hounds in the program’s first two years of existence. Muñoz played semi-professional soccer in the Canadian Profes-sional Soccer League for the North York Astros and the Premier Development League for the Sioux Falls Spitfire. The Bogota, Columbia native received his bachelor’s degree in physical education at William Wood University where he was a First Team All-American Midwest Conference selection. Currently, Muñoz has a Premier Diploma from the NSCAA. Muñoz and his wife Natalie live in Portales with their 13-year old son Nolan and two-year old Harrison.
