From the Principal:
As Principal of this wonderful school I
am delighted to be able to tell our
community that our 2018 NAPLAN
results are outstanding. Our Year 3
students did exceptionally well and our
Year 5 students performed better than
expected. The Year 3 students
performed above like schools in all areas
of the testing. The Year 5 students
performed above like schools in reading
and at like schools in all other areas.
Student reports were sent home
yesterday. Parents can access the

These results vindicate the hard work we
have been doing over the last few years
reflecting on improving our practices and
implementing our whole school
approaches such as Talk For Writing. It
also demonstrates how hard our
teachers and students have been
working in the class rooms across the
school. We will now continue to work on
improving our practice and school
programs to ensure our students
continue to achieve and progress. This
will start on Friday 21 September when
we have our school development day.
Teachers will be working together to
review current programs and develop
new ones for 2019.
Every two years schools are required to
carry out the National School Opinion
Survey. This involves families, teachers
and students. The aim of this survey is to
help us be the best school we can. This
year the survey will be sent electronically
via email. It is a very short survey and
should only take about 10-15 minutes.
SCHOOL VISION: To inspire a culture of excellence in all that we do
Please keep your eye out for the email in
the coming week. We would much
appreciate your feedback!
Last Thursday our
local member for
Balcatta David Michael
took time out of his
busy schedule to visit
our Pre-Primary class
room where he read
the students the story I’m Australian Too
by Mem Fox and Ronojoy Ghosh. David
donated the book to the school as his
contribution to Book Week. Thank you
David, the children really enjoyed your
visit!
Early next term I will begin to finalise the
class structure for 2019. I am pleased to
be able to say that our school is growing
and we will form another class next Year
giving us 7 classes from PP to Year 6 as
well as our two Kindergarten groups.
Projected numbers for 2019 is 205! It is
particularly important that if you know your
child won’t be attending our school next
year that you let us know now.
Finally, I would like to thank Mr. Moser for
all his hard work this term preparing our
students for the school athletics and
interschool athletics carnivals. He has
done an awesome job. As he would say,
he couldn't have done without the support
of the rest of the staff. So to all my staff I
thank you for another term of awesome
work. Best wishes to the students and their
families for a wonderful holiday.

8 First Day Term 4
MONDAY
Year 2
Selamat siang semua dan selamat datang di surat kabar yang terakhir pada minggu 10, di term 3.
Greetings everyone and welcome to the last newsletter for Term 3.
This term, Room 1 has worked very closely with Ibu Clifton to present their assembly item. It was an
‘Indonesian’ assembly centred around all the things the class have been learning about this wonderful country
each week. Thanks to the wonderful Ibu Clifton, they were able to dress in Indonesian clothing and had a lot of
fun learning two songs sung fluently in Indonesian. It was ‘Bagus”
In Science, Year 2 have been investigating water, its sources and uses. Each week, one scientifically minded
student is selected to wear the much prized and sought after “Science Coat’. There have been many worthy
recipients to date with eager students vying for it each week!
In Geography, we have looked at our connections to other places in the world then each student presented a
short oral report on places they are connected to. We have an incredibly multi-cultural class with connections
to Russia, Hungary, Greece, China, England. Korea, Myanmar, Mauritius, Ireland and many other places.
It has been a busy term filled with lots interesting events and learning but, we are all now looking forward to
two weeks holiday!
Interschool Athletics Week
We had a fantastic day at the Interschool Athletics Carnival on
Friday 14th. Congratulations to East Hamersley Primary School
on receiving the award for ‘Most Improved’. Our school placed
4th overall. Special mention to Harper who received the Junior

Champion Boy award. A big thank you to parents for your support
and Mr Moser for organising a great day out for participating
