No matter whether in an industrial, laboratory or trade setting – there is a ubiquitous need for flammable liquids that are used on a daily basis, and which must be stored correctly and safely.
To meet this demand, asecos offer special safety storage cabinets that are tested and constructed to EN 14470-1 as long-lasting, high-quality products.
In regions that are prone to earthquakes it is especially important that flammable liquids are stored safely and protected from shocks. In the event of a fire caused by an earthquake, the safety storage cabinet prevents the liquids
stored inside from fuelling the fire. In many regions around the world there are areas that are prone to earthquakes.
They are divided into 5 earthquake risk zones: Zone 0 (minor earthquakes) to Zone 5 (very large earth quakes, which cause destruction over large areas).
The Q-SR-90 ShockResistant cabinet provides protection in two re spects: certified to EN 14470-1 and GR-63-CORE-4, it meets the requirements for a 90 minute fire resistance as well as guaranteeing the highest degree of earthquake resistance for installation up to Zone 4.
Earthquake-proof storage of flammable liquids — what points should be noted?
EN 14470-1
Tested in accordance with the provisions of EN 14470-1, the Q-SR-90 ShockResistant provides fire resistance of at least 90 minutes. In the event of a fire, this minimises the danger arising from flammable liquids, thus providing the time needed for rescue and evacuation.

If a product is to be certified for earthquake resistance to the high est safety standards, it must be tested for compliance with the relevant standards from the field of telecommunications. Why? Since commu-nications must be guaranteed in the event of an earthquake, it is here that the strictest test conditions are laid down. The Q-SR-90 ShockResistant complies with precisely these provisions of GR-63-CORE-4 / ATIS-0.600.329,2008 / ETS 300 019 and thus guarantees earthquake resistance for all risk zones. The basis for this testing is always the most severe earthquake that has ever been measured worldwide.
