In about 1790 sealers whalers came to N.Z to kill seal and whales. They had to be brave and strong .They had to use lots of harpoons to kill the whales .In the 1850s the whaling stations closed .They burnt the blubber down to make oil .

People from the other side of the world that came to N.Z are called immigrants. To wash their clothes they had to dunk them in the water. To dry their clothes they had to make rope and hang them on the rope.
