The Eames Plastic Armchair is avail-able once again. Due to innovations in technology and materials, it is now possible to produce fully authentic seat shells made of ecologically friendly, recyclable polypropy lene in various colours.

Charles & Ray Eames feature among the most impor-tant figures of twentieth century design. Their work is multi-faceted: they developed funiture, produced films and photographs, organised exhibitions and designed and built their own house as a pioneering endeavour.

Vitra has produced and marketed the furniture designs of Charles & Ray Eames since 1957. First pro-ducing under license, Vitra obtained exclusive rights to all Eames products for Europe and the Middle East in 1984. Consequently, we are the sole legitimate manu-facturer of Eames designs in this part of the world. The brand gives you the security of owning an original product by Charles & Ray Eames.

We have retained Charles & Ray Eames’ idea of combining a comfortable seat with different bases, in order to achieve the widest use for the chair. With various bases, the Eames Plastic Armchair is suitable for the home, cafés, offices, lobbies or waiting rooms and training areas.

Eames Plastic Armchair This chair was designed in 1948 and first presented at the New York Museum of Modern Art competition 'Low-Cost Furniture Design'. The comfortable seat shell, made of fibreglass-reinforced plastic, was combined with a variety of bases. It was the first plastic chair to be mass-produced.

Eames Plastic Armchair Programme features

Seat shell made of solid-coloured polypropylene. Optionally with cushions (except RAR) in five different colours. Seat cover made of removable and washable knitted fabric. Various designs for bases.

DAX: Four-legged base of chrome-plated tubular steel or in pow-dercoated grey (NCS-S-6500-N).

DAR: Four-legged wire base with cross-struts, chrome-plated or in powdercoated grey (NCS-S-6500-N).

RAR: Wire base with cross-struts, chrome-plated, on runners made of maple, stained and varnished.

DAW: Wooden base made of stained and varnished maple, with steel rod cross-struts in basic dark.

PACC: Swivel chair, height adjustable, on five-star base with cas-tors for either hard or soft floors. Five-star base made of polished pressure-cast aluminium.

On stretcher 2-5 units can be linked or combined with tables made of HPL laminate (black). T-form supporting bar, epoxy coat-ed basic dark, polished aluminium base.

Outdoor use The powder-coating makes the chair ideal for out-door use. The frame is galvanized. Special additives in the seat pan slow colour fading due to UV radiation. However, leaving the chair be exposed to the sun for an extended period of time can result in changes in the colour. We recommend that the chair not be left in the sun longer than necessary.

Deviations in colour are possible due to the printing process.
