OUR FACULTYThe foundation of any university is its faculty and at Texas A&M University-Texarkana our foundation is strong. The TAMUT faculty are not only highly-regarded experts in their fields, they are passionate about teaching and have made sharing knowledge their life’s work. They are highly educated…100% of our tenured and tenure-track professors have attained terminal degrees, but that doesn’t mean that they are finished learning. Our faculty members are involved in scholarly research at the highest levels, making sure that the content they provide TAMUT students is current and cutting edged. This ensures our graduates are well-prepared for what comes next, whether that’s a career, medical school, law school, or other post baccalaureate studies. “For me, one of the best things about A&M-Texarkana was the one-on-one attention I got from my professors. They were extremely knowledgeable and the smaller class sizes meant I was able to get more personalized instruction.” Rebekah Drennon, Class of 2018.

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNINGAt Texas A&M University-Texarkana we are committed to experiential learning, the process by which students gain additional experience and hands-on education through a variety of settings that are outside the traditional classroom. A&M-Texarkana provides all students the opportunity for experiential learning through various lab experiments, internships, study abroad, and research, which helps prepare our students for real-world opportunities after graduation. The highlight of each year’s experiential learning process comes in the spring during the university’s Experiential Learning Showcase. Students gather to showcase their work and to compete for the People’s Choice and the Presidential awards.

TAMUT HONORS PROGRAMSThe Texas A&M University Honors Program is an enhanced and supportive learning environment for students who are moved to pursue their education beyond typical course requirements. Under the direction of Dr. Craig Nakashian, Associate Professor of History, the Honors Program features faculty mentors guiding student research, challenging and innovative classroom seminars, and a robust series of intellectually engaging colloquia presentations. Honors program participants complete advanced projects related to their fields of study, have the opportunity to present their research outside the university setting, and sponsor the A&M-Texarkana Excellence in Teaching Awards for TAMUT Faculty. For more information on the TAMUT Honors Program contact Craig Nakashian at [email protected].

2 DISTINCT STATES, 1 INCREDIBLE CITYLocated in the northeast corner of Texas and southwest corner of Arkansas, Texarkana USA, is the hub of 19 counties in four states. Geographically located on the border of Texas and Arkansas, Texarkana is composed of two cities with the same name. The Texarkana cities are very unique in that they are connected by State Line Avenue, which runs through the center of Texarkana. We like to say Texarkana is “Twice As Nice.” A unique community, Texarkana offers something for everyone: shopping, outdoor activities, dining, rodeos, museums, historical treasures, arts and cultural activities, as well as many festivals. There are two of almost everything: two city governments, two police and fire departments, but one fabulous community!
