FIREBIRD PRODUCTS 2005 The Swiss Company has launched a complete new range of gliders for the start of 2005. The new Firebird products cover the needs of beginners and safety oriented pilots as well as intermediate level pilots and paragliding professionals. A new Tandem has also been launched. All 2005 Firebird gliders feature our flashy new design, the striking swept-back planform and technical innovations such as Speed Loops and Laser Cut Technology. This new technology helps us to achieve new levels of quality, and thus allows Firebird to offer a 5-year-warranty on all their new gliders. 5-YEAR-WARRANTY

Firebird is the first and only producer worlwide offering a 5-Year-Warranty on all its gliders.

Thanks to many years of exerience and the use of new technologies this has now become possible and is the best proof for Firebird not only standing for fun and safety but also for innovation and highest quality.

Innovations, consistent production management and production improvements are necessary to produce quality on such a high level. Every production step is now recorded and after each step the product is precisely controlled regarding mistakes or irregularities. Thanks to this error control procedure and the use of the latest high tech materials and production methods wer are convinced to produce very high quality products and therefore can grant you an extraordinarily long warranty time of 5 years or 500 flight hours.

Laser Cut Technology

The new Firebird wings are worldwide the first ones produced with Laser Cut Technology. This technology results in highest cutting precision and a minimum of material waste. All the different parts of the wing are precicely “burned out” with a laser plotter and receive an individual number burned in every part automatically by the laser.

Laser Cut Technology allowed us not only to improve and optimize production planning and controlling but also to archieve an unimagined accuracy of 0.15 mm. Moreover a very pleasant side effect of the laser cut is the advantage of sealing the cutting edge automatically before the precicely cut and inscribed parts go on to further processing.

Producing all our wings with Laser Cut Technology contributes a lot to the high quality and longevity of the new Firebird gliders and is one of the main reasons why we can be the only producer in the world to offer a 5-year-warranty on our gliders.

Dirt Hole Firebird gliders all come with a velcro opening situated on the wing tip. Through this Dirt Hole things like sand, leaves etc. can be removed with ease at regular intervals to prevent internal abrasion of metarial.

Firebird uses Speed Loop line attachment points instead of the usual tapes. Speed Loops are made of thin sheathed lines. They can accept 30% greater load than conventional attachment points due to the improved internal sewing. The air flow across the sail undersurface is less disturbed and the profile is more stable during accelerated flight, achieving additional performance without any loss of safety.

Speed Loop Technology INNOVATIVE ATTACHMENT POINTS

Firebird uses Lite Loops line attachment points instead of the usual tapes made of thin sheathed lines. They can hold 30% more than conventional attachment points due to the improved inside sewing. The air flow on the bottom sail is less disturbed and the profile is more stable during accelerated flight, so a gain in performance is achieved without any loss of safety.

Therefore the new Firebird Speed Loops do not only offer sesnsible aerodynamic advantages but also the benefit to hold 30% more load which contributes to the high quality and longevity of the new Firebird gliders and is also one of the reason why we can be the only producer in the world to offer a 5-year-warranty on our gliders.

Many design studies and innumerable prototpyes had to be realized to reach our goal of being the first producer constructing a real design wing and only the implementation of a costly new sewing method has made the production of our new design even possible.

Edge Protect EDGE REINFORCEMENT

On leading and trailing edge, a dracon tape is used instead of a webbing tape. This avoids shrinkage even in extreme temperatures and humidity so changes in flight behaviour can be avoided and the most exposed parts of the glider are well protected.

COMFORT RISERS

The new Firebird gliders are well thought out up to the risers. The improved Firebrid comfort risers are produced with new materials in optimized processing for best quality.

All fittings are in metal to guarantee for longevity even with heavy usage. The brake handles bordered in red are easy to catch and in the inner part worked up with velours for enhanced comfort.

The twin A risers are equiped with magnetic metal buttons and the line cutting edges are sealed.

All the important points for the pre-flight check are bordered in red for safe takeoffs.

Plastic clips in the line locks complete the high quality standard of the new comfort risers on all the Firebird gliders.

SWEPT-BACK PLANFORM The new Firebird swept-back planform guarantees for high safety while thermalling through a narrow turn radius, improved slow flight characteristics and excellent handling. It also prevents locked spirals and greatly reduces the risk of cravats.

MATERIAL

For the new Firebird gliders only approved and successful materials are used. The lines are from Edelrid, Technora (1,2 mm) for the riserlines and Dynema (0,9 mm) for the top lines. For the canopies we use Sky-Tex from Porcher NCV, a cloth developed especially for paragliders with excellent UV resistance and tear strength.

The Firebird Spider is a safe performance and fun intermediate glider. It is agile, safe and stable.

The swept-back planform gives narrow turn radius and improved slow flight characteristics while full diagonal ribs and additional E lines result in a very stable profile. SPORT CLASS AND XC GLIDER

The Eagle replaces the two old-fashioned Hornets. Handling and efficiency are similar to the Hornet SP. Firebird has enhanced stability and cornering ability through the new diagonal cell arrangement towards the tips. The Eagle will surely be among the very best DHV 2 gliders as it is fast, direct and stable.

The Eagle is a glider for ambitious XC pilots with a wide speed range with optimum glide for long, fast and safe glides. It is fast on trim and accelerated speed, a flat polar for little loss of altitude on valley crossings and other long glides, resulting in a high entry into the next thermal. Sporty handling, direct feedback and excellent slow flight characteristics garantee for successful thermalling even in narrow thermals. The tandem glider to make you smile with your passengers. The most practical tandem on the market through its large weight range from 120 to 220 kg for optimum adjustment of wing load. Thanks to the ability to zip away 3 cells you have the choice between 32 or 36 m2 area projected and can fly light or heavy passengers with a safe wing loading and speed.

The Firebird Trainer is now available in the new Design and will be delivered with a new small Rucksack! With the Firebird Trainer groundhandling becomes a game. Even in very windy conditions and on unflyable days when practicing with a bigger glider is impossible you can practice groundhandling and take off techniques with the Firebird Trainer. The Trainer wing is like a very small paraglider completely equiped with risers and lines. It has been developed and certified exclusively for the training of glider handling on the ground. Groundhandling has become more and more popular as many pilots have experienced it not only being a lot of fun but also contributing very much to personal security in the air as the handling of the glider on the ground is very similar to the bahaviour of the canopy during flights.

RS 7 FIREBIRD RESERVE

The rescue system from Firebird with DHV certification stands for highest safety and quality.
