aims at . . .
• operating as a large scale infrastructure for biodiversity and ecosystem research
– with a service centre to support the user community;
• bringing high quality scientific information, knowledge and expertise together
– with a system of observatories with wide and long-term coverage,
– and with integrated access to (genetic, species-level and ecosystem) data;
• in a virtual environment – offering analytical and modeling tools;
• and for the support of policy objectives– by offering information knowledge required for the understanding
and management of our ecosystems;

LifeWatch contributes to European part of GEO BON
GEO BON
hankkeen osakokonaisuudet Suomessa
FinLTSER-tutkimusasemaverkosto:• Tutkimusasemien tietojärjestelmien rakentaminen ja ylläpito.• Tutkimusasemien instrumentointi, mittausjärjestelmät ja testialustat.
GBIF-järjestelmän jatkokehitys:• Museoiden aineistot ja kansalaisverkostot
Sovelluskehitys (national LifeWatch centre/node):• SETI/LUMONET 2.0 työryhmän keskeiset ehdotukset.• Maankäyttö- ja kaukokartoitusaineistojen integrointi (GEO BON).• Keskeisten ympäristömuuttujien integrointi (ilmasto, hydrologia).• Tietoaineistojen rajapintojen luominen ja ylläpito.• www.biodiversity.fi portaalin jatkokehitys (CBD-raportointityökalu).
Osallistuminen kansainvälisen LifeWatch-järjestelmän kehittämiseen:
• Osakokonaisuudet kuvattu LifeWatch:in JIRA-tietokannassa, josta sopiva osakokonaisuus voidaan valita (in-kind contribution).
LifeWatch/FinLTSER hanke-esitys SA/FIRI ohjelma 2010 (ei rahoitusta, 1. varasija)
Koko ESFRI/LifeWatch hanke:– Rakentamiskustannus 279 milj. € (5 v)– Valmisteluprojekti 2008-2010: EU-rahoitus 5,0 milj.
Suomi (tiekarttahankkeen esitys 2008, LifeWatch+FinLTSER):– Rakentamiskustannukset: 15,6 milj. €
– Käyttökustannukset: 3,4 milj. €/v
– Hanke perustuu osittain olemassa olevaan infrastruktuuriin:• Yliopistojen tutkimusasemat• Yliopistojen ja tutkimuslaitosten laitteistot, tietojärjestelmät ja -aineistot• Luonnontieteellisen keskusmuseon toiminta ja kokoelmat
– Lisärahoitusta instrumentointiin, testialustojen rakentamiseen ja datainfrastruktuurin kehittämiseen
SA/FIRI hanke-esitys 2010 : 2,1 milj € (2011-2012) 1. varasija
Lisärahoitusta tutkimusinfrastruktuureille v. 2012 budjetissa
+ FinLTSER rahoitus
Johtopäätökset
• LifeWatch hanke etenee eurooppalaisella tasolla• Prosessi on monimutkainen ja vahvasti
tiedepoliittinen• LifeWatch/FinLTSER hyvä mahdollisuus edistää
ekologisen tutkimuksen infrastruktuuria myös Suomessa
• Vahvojen kansallisten toimijoiden yhteistyötä tarvitaan viitekehyksen edistämiseksi
