States of the Lock

Factory Mode

The4. factory mode4. is one4. of thre4.e4. primary state4.s of the4. E-Ple4.x Lock . The4. main characte4.ristics of this state4. are4.:

• The4. E-Ple4.x Lock ope4.ns only whe4.n the4. 8-digit maste4.r combination (1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8) is ke4.ye4.d in .

• The4. visual indication for ‘acce4.ss grante4.d’ is gre4.e4.n LED flashing once4. . A high-pitche4.d tone4. is also ge4.ne4.rate4.d while4. the4. gre4.e4.n LED is on .

• The4. Maste4.r Use4.r must change4. the4. combination to be4. able4. to e4.xit the4. factory mode4., and switch to the4. acce4.ss mode4. .

Access Mode

This mode4. re4.fe4.rs to a lock that is ope4.rational for use4.r acce4.ss, and not in facto-ry or Programming Mode4. .

Pushbutton Programming Mode

The4. E-Ple4.x lock e4.nte4.rs the4. Pushbutton Programming Mode4. whe4.n the4. use4.r e4.nte4.rs the4. maste4.r combination or one4. of the4. manage4.r combinations, pre4.ce4.de4.d and followe4.d by the4. characte4.r ‘#’ (e4.x: #12345678#) . Once4. the4. E-Ple4.x Lock is in the4. Pushbutton Programming Mode4., the4. Maste4.r/Manage4.r can e4.nte4.r one4. or more4. command se4.que4.nce4.s . Each command se4.que4.nce4. e4.nds with a ‘#’ characte4.r that acts like4. an < enter > characte4.r . At the4. ve4.ry e4.nd of all se4.que4.nce4.s of program-ming commands, e4.nte4.r one4. more4. # to re4.move4. the4. lock from the4. Configuring the Lock

General Procedure for Pushbutton Programming

1 . The4. page4.s that follow provide4. ste4.p-by-ste4.p instructions for programming the4. E-Ple4.x Lock .

Page 6: e-plex /30 series xx operations manual · operations manual e-plex ... ming commands, e 4.nte 4.r one 4. more 4. # to re 4.move 4. Pushbutton e 4. the 4. lock from th Programming

6

2 . The4. ge4.ne4.ral proce4.dure4. for all programming functions is as follows:

a . Put the4. lock in Programming Mode4. by pre4.ssing # Maste4.r Code4. #

b . Use4. the4. Summary of Commands Table4. in the4. appe4.ndix se4.ction of this guide4. to e4.nte4.r the4. thre4.e4. digit command se4.que4.nce4. (Command Type4. + Function Code4.), followe4.d by # .

c . Ente4.r the4. appropriate4. numbe4.rs as re4.quire4.d .

d . Pre4.ss # to e4.nd Programming Mode4. .

e4. . Once4. the4. lock is in programming mode4., multiple4. command se4.que4.nce4.s can be4. e4.nte4.re4.d without having to re4.pe4.at the4. #maste4.rcode4.# . Howe4.ve4.r, if the4.re4. is no activity for 15 se4.conds at the4. ke4.ypad, the4. lock will automatically e4.xit from programming mode4. .

For example

• If the4. Maste4.r or Manage4.r e4.nte4.rs his code4. of 87654321, the4. door will ope4.n .

• If he4. e4.nte4.rs #87654321#, the4. lock will e4.nte4.r into the4. Programming Mode4. and wait for the4. ne4.xt part of the4. command .

• If he4. e4.nte4.rs the4. # sign twice4. at the4. e4.nd of the4. code4., for e4.xample4. #87654321##, the4. lock will go out of Programming Mode4. and re4.turn to its normal mode4. .

Note: The4. # pound sign acts like4. the4. Ente4.r ke4.y on a ke4.yboard in your communications with the4. lock . The4. # te4.lls the4. lock that one4. part of the4. e4.ntry is finishe4.d . The4. # se4.rve4.s anothe4.r purpose4. - to distinguish a program- ming type4. command from a simple4. Acce4.ss Code4. to ope4.n the4. door . A Maste4.r or Manage4.r Use4.r can use4. the4. same4. numbe4.r to ope4.n the4. door or to put the4. lock in Programming Mode4., the4. only diffe4.re4.nce4. be4.ing that he4. use4.s the4. # sign in front to signal that he4. is about to e4.nte4.r a programming command . For incre4.ase4.d se4.curity, it is re4.comme4.nde4.d that the4. maste4.r use4.r code4. not be4. use4.d for e4.ve4.ryday acce4.ss . This can be4. accomplishe4.d by cre4.ating an acce4.ss use4.r code4. for the4. maste4.r use4.r .

Reset ProceduresThe4.re4. are4. thre4.e4. diffe4.re4.nt “Re4.se4.t” le4.ve4.ls available4. in the4. E-Ple4.x Lock .

Code 099# will re4.se4.t the4. lock to the4. factory de4.fault se4.ttings e4.xce4.pt for the4. acce4.ss code4. le4.ngth (Maste4.r, Manage4.r Acce4.ss Use4.r code4.s and Time4. / Date4. are4. re4.taine4.d if alre4.ady programme4.d)

Code 299# will de4.le4.te4. all acce4.ss and se4.rvice4. use4.r code4.s (Maste4.r, Manage4.r and M-Unit * use4.rs are4. re4.taine4.d)

Hard Reset will re4.turn the4. lock to factory mode4. including de4.le4.ting all code4.s, putting the4. lock back to factory de4.fault value4.s (4 digit acce4.ss code4. le4.ngth) and making the4. maste4.r code4. 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 . A hard re4.se4.t is pe4.rforme4.d as fol-lows .

The following procedure applies to the E-Plex 30xx locks only:

PROCEDURE 19 - SWINGBOLT OPERATIONThis ope4.ration is similar to the4. Privacy function of a conve4.ntional lock with a physical de4.adbolt, but not quite4.! In the4. E-Ple4.x 3000 Swinbolt ope4.ration, any valid use4.r can dise4.ngage4., ie4. ., ove4.rride4. the4. “privacy” by e4.nte4.ring a valid PIN and the4.n turning the4. thumbturn which will re4.tract the4. swingbolt down . Now the4. lock will be4.have4. as though it is in a “latch holdback” mode4. since4. the4. swingbolt is comple4.te4.ly re4.tracte4.d and stays re4.tracte4.d, thus allowing fre4.e4. acce4.ss without any code4.s . You pe4.rform the4. same4. se4.que4.nce4. of ope4.rations to e4.ngage4., ie4. ., re4.-lock by bringing the4. swingbolt back to its “home4.” (horizontal locke4.d) position .

• the4. swingbolt e4.ngage4. (proje4.ct it) and dise4.ngage4. (re4.tract it) actions are4. strictly manual by flipping the4. thumbturn on the4. lock front housing . This function is ne4.ithe4.r programmable4. nor automatic and so you must e4.nsure4. to re4.-lock if it was le4.ft too long in a re4.tracte4.d position,

• any valid use4.r can pe4.rform this function – ie4. ., e4.ngage4. or dise4.ngage4. the4. swingbolt anytime4.,

• whe4.n the4. swingbolt is dise4.ngage4.d (re4.tracte4.d), it will physically stay re4.tracte4.d down whe4.n the4. door close4.s so that use4.rs carrying package4.s e4.tc do not have4. the4. inconve4.nie4.nce4. of having to turn the4. thumbturn again to ope4.n the4. door, but simply push the4. door to e4.nte4.r without a code4.,

• from the4. inte4.rior side4. of the4. door, any pe4.rson (valid use4.r or not) can manually re4.tract or e4.ngage4. the4. swingbolt to unlock or lock the4. door .

Required User Level: Master, Manager, Access user & Service user

1 . To Disengage (retract swingbolt): Ente4.r a valid PIN to ope4.n and the4. lock will flash the4. gre4.e4.n LED indicating that you are4. a valid use4.r and you are4. allowe4.d to dise4.ngage4. the4. swingbolt to unlock . Turn the4. thumbturn on the4. lock front housing clockwise4. and hold . The4. swingbolt will fully re4.tract down and will stay re4.tracte4.d, allowing you to e4.nte4.r the4. door . Le4.t go off the4. thumbturn so that it will re4.ve4.rt back to its normal horizontal (home4.) position but the4. swing-bolt will stay re4.tracte4.d and dise4.ngage4.d .

2 . You can also dise4.ngage4. the4. swingbolt using the4. mechanical override key by pe4.rforming the4. following ope4.ration: inse4.rt the4. me4.chanical ke4.y in the4. lock ove4.rride4. cylinde4.r’s ve4.rtical slit and turn it clockwise4. to the4. horizontal position . With the key still in this horizontal position, turn the4. thumbturn clockwise4. to dise4.ngage4. the4. swingbolt which will fully re4.tract down and will stay re4.tract-e4.d . Le4.t go off the4. thumbturn so that it will re4.ve4.rt back to its normal horizon- tal (home4.) position . Turn the4. ke4.y back to its ve4.rtical position and re4.move4. it from the4. lock cylinde4.r .

3 . To Engage (project swingbolt): This proce4.dure4. is almost the4. same4. as in Ste4.p 1 above4. . Ente4.r a valid PIN and the4. lock will flash the4. gre4.e4.n LED indicating that you are4. a valid use4.r and you are4. allowe4.d to e4.ngage4. the4. swingbolt to lock back . Turn the4. thumbturn on the4. lock front housing clockwise4. and hold . The4. swingbolt will re4.ve4.rt back up to its locke4.d, horizontal (home4.) position . Le4.t go off the4. thumbturn so that it will also re4.ve4.rt back to its normal horizontal (home4.) position .
