    OBD Calibration and Validation

The Misfire Generator Diesel (MFG-D) is a specialized instrument used for development, calibration, validation and certification of

diesel engine misfire diagnosis. Using the MFG-D is essential to the development of diesel engine misfire OBD systems that

prevent engine misfire to improve emissions, and avoid potential damage to the engine and the exhaust treatment systems that can

    occur with excessive misfire rates.

The MFG-D is intended to comply with the anticipated addition of diesel requirements to SAE Standard J2901. It supports a wide

variety of misfire patterns and ignition systems by employing powerful microprocessor technology to deliver high accuracy, flexibility

and upgradeability. The product was designed based on our deep understanding of diesel engine development, long time

experience in developing OBD-related tools and input from our OEM customers and Engine Control Modules (ECM) suppliers.

The MFG-D replaces ignition control signals to induce selected misfires. Select from engine-cycle or event –based signal timing

methods and a wide variety of misfire patterns such as single, specific or multi-cylinder, random or periodic misfires. Optional

configuration software is available for creating custom or arbitrary misfire patterns and saving configurations to CSV files for re-use.

    Software

This software is used in conjunction with the PC Mode switch on the MFG-D main module. With this software, misfires can be

arbitrarily set among the 1000 ignition events. The final setup is downloaded into the generator through USB port for immediate

usage, or saved to a CSV file for later edit and upload. With this software, any setup configured on the panel switches can also

be saved as a CSV file. This file can also be edited and download to the hardware.

    USB communication with a laptop

Supports CSV file format for configuration

    Supports arbitrary misfire patterns
