Sabadell, a creative and entrepreneurial city, 200.000Hb, 30 Km from BCN,
•Future Internet will offer new opportunities for cities in the area of arts and culture.
•Elearning Singing is a new demanding service exploiting the true interactivity of the network and a web based learning platform
The challenges
Technical and Pedagogical Challenges
• High quality of sound: a major problem– Capturing– Reproducing– Echo problem
• Good quality of video: a minor problem– HDSDI– DVTS
• Availability of advanced network: a major problem
• Web based Pedagogical platform: minor problem
Local, regional and national testing• Dec, 12, 2008. Local test between Municipal
auditorium in Sabadell and UPV in Valencia (350kms)
• Prof. Ana Luisa Chova in Sabadell, and 4 students in the UPV in Valencia.
• A master class of a lied.
• Comparing the stereo and Dolby 5.0
• Comparing the perceptions of the singer using head phones with the acoustics characteristics of the El Liceu.
International testing
• Prof. Wolfram Rieger in Pakhuis center in Amsterdam and 6 students and 4 pianists in Informatic School in Sabadell
• March 24, 2009. Master Class of a Lied interpretation.
• Students sending 5.0 multichannel and professor sending stereo quality.
Conclusions
• 1. It is not the same an university-to-university setting than a university-to-city environment
• 2. Stereo and 5.0 just work, but echo is a problem. Distance between micros and altavoces +echo cancelation equipment are solutions.
• 3. The professors and students enjoyed the service, including the web based platform.
• 4. Cities are ready to innovate.
• 5. International collaboration is needed.
