Women who love

Missions wanted to

Unite to share the love of God The associational WMU will have its September meeting Tuesday September 8, 2015. This is the second Tuesday– a week early due to the upcoming association annual meeting and regional WMU meeting the third week. Consider being a part of our group.

Dates to remember September 8, Tuesday—Associational WMU meeting, 10:30 am luncheon meeting September 17, Thursday—Regional WMU meeting at Grand Oaks, 8-8:30 registration September 19, Saturday—Association Annual Meeting I encourage those who love missions to attend the regional meeting at Grand Oaks, it is for all women who love missions and want to experience an uplifting mission encouragement. A variety of missionaries and SB state workers will be at-tending with many interesting experiences and opportunities. We have two mission opportunities that day; 1. Bring to the meeting gently used house hold items for the women’s shel-ter in Saint Louis. This can be anything from sheets to pots and pans. These will be given to women who are starting over with nothing. 2. The “Buckets of Love” project is continuing and we are encouraged to bring items for the bucket. Each church should have a list of the items to go in to the bucket. Missouri SB has a challenge to prepare 5000 buckets. Your Sister in Christ

From My Heart to YoursFrom My Heart to YoursFrom My Heart to YoursFrom My Heart to Yours

“To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven.” Proverbs 3:1 It is amazing to me that September is already here. Time just keeps on moving. As Wil-lie Nelson wrote, “Gee, ain’t it funny how time just slips away.” My desire is that time in September will not just slip away, but instead it will be utilized to its fullest.

It is a time to enjoy, family and friends in a special way during Labor Day weekend.

It is a time to give generously to the Rheubin L South Missouri Missions Offering, which greatly benefits new church starts work, Missouri Baptist Children’s Home, and Sum-mer Missions Ministry. Remember 10% comes back to our Association for designated

ministries.

It is a time to come to our NGRBA Annual Meeting so we can worship together, become more informed about our ministries, be motivated to be more involved in cooperative ministries and set the direction for the coming year.

It is a time to pray for our students, administrators and teachers as they are moving forward into the new school year. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a SPIRITUAL REVOLUION on our campuses”

It is a time to watch because many of God’s Spiritual Leaders believe this September could be explosive in relationship to world events. We must be wise concerning the times. We must work for the time is coming when we can’t work anymore!

For His Glory,

E.J. Barnes

Summer is over and school has begun. But, before we share about the coming semes-ter let’s celebrate stories of this summer. There were 3 BSU students, Gracie, April and Maggie, who did 10 weeks of mission work all over the USA and Canada. Their story can be seen in a video clip made national by NAMB at https://t.co/N65yDOXhTP. There

were 4 BSU Alumni students—Ashley Neeley-in China, Jefferdson Jimenez-with SportsCrusaders, Alyssa Schultz-2 mission trips to Canada and Columbus CrossOver, and Makayla Moon-ESL in Lenox, who did mis-sion work throughout the summer. A 5th BSU Alumni, Maerissa Knapp, is currently serving the next 2 years teaching in Nairobi, Kenya to share the gospel. And a 6th former summer missionary, Eba Morris, will soon spend 10 months in France language school in order to be equipped to teach ESL classes the next 4 years in Mali, Africa. This will make a total of 9 BSU students this year who have answered the call to “Go, make Dis-ciples, and teach them.”

There are many stories from this summer’s evangelistic work, but 2 seem unique. Story 1: 10pm Wednesday night of Rodeo week in Lenox, IA, a knock sounds at the door of our lodging. When I answer, there is a young man in late 20’s at the door. I step outside and he asks, “Are you the people who gave me a 9-volt battery back some time ago?” I confirm that we are, and he proceeds to say that at the time we gave him the battery his security system was down and he used the battery in his old smoke detector until he could get his new system fixed. He wanted to thank us for the gift. At this point EJ had stepped out and began to speak with him. Over the course of a few minutes EJ was able to share Jesus story with this young man, and he agreed that he would visit Country Roads Baptist Church in the near future. Story 2: Saturday, 7/25, we served breakfast for the 2nd time to 45 Rodeo competitors and their families. One of those young men had a deep conversation with EJ. Aug 6, EJ receives the following email from Derin:

Hello my name is Derin Blow. I met EJ Barnes at the Lenox Rodeo and he came to the Trenton rodeo also. We hit things off at breakfast in Lenox and I've been trying to find him to keep in contact. He helped me get motivated to start reading the "Bible" again. I don't know if he realized that! BUT I got back to it, HOOKED on it again and just finished THE OLD Testament! Thank you for having breakfast for us!

Another result to celebrate from this summer is that Country Roads Baptist Church, Lenox, IA, reports that they had 30 children in VBS, and 67 attendance in their AM worship services. The last impromptu evangelistic work our students did was work the MO Baptist tent at the state fair, Friday 8/14, where Jefferdson, Gracie, Alyssa, Christina, EJ and myself shared the story of Jesus with approximately 30 fair goers. The tent supervi-sor reported that there were 10 salvations through that day. Not only were there salvations but 3 NCMC BSU’ers grew more comfortable in their ability to share the gospel with strangers.

For this coming semester here are some kingdom plans to be praying about: 20 new international students on campus; Welcome Move-In-Saturday—BSU will give away 200 backpacks and have a Welcome Table on that day; SW GetAway—$50/student will learn from Mark Grossman-Kenya how to share Jesus story-telling “Creation to the Cross”; MODays Parade-give gospel tracts on parade route; Pocket Change for Ronald McDonald Houses-KC entire month of October Donation; Thanksgiving Feast for all NCMC; plus weekly Bible studies and Tuesday night Communitas Worship.

Pray how you can help the BSU “Make Disciples, Develop Leaders, Teach Missional Living!”

He is Worthy to Receive the Rewards of HIS Sacrifice—Souls Diann

Edinburg– During the week of July 27th we had 5 children and 1 adult to attend Children's Camp, which was reported to be a great blessing. We had a baptism this month.

Alida Kincade retired from Mission Leader of our Church after 21 years of service. She has done a tremendous service for the Lord. Jerri Manual has graciously consented to be our new leader.

Our Church held the Sunday Service at Sunnyview on August 18th, which is always a blessing. We had a fellowship following the service.

WMU presented their quilt for auction at the Apple Festival on September 12th, for the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home. The ladies participated in back to School supplies for the beginning of the

school year.

Bob Manual leads the Wednesday night Bible Study. We will be starting to study Romans.

The Church and parsonage now have new roofs.

The Ladies Book Study reviewed the book “Jaded” by Varina Denman. It was decided the next book will be “Justified” by Varina Denman.

Our Search Committee is working and seeking God’s will for a new pastor. We thank our sister Churches for their prayers. Rev. Ed Bell and J.C. Davis have been filling the pulpit.

Medicine Valley- This past June 15th marked the completion of the Tenth year of our ministry with Medicine Valley Community Ministry. Never a fully funded ministry, it has been and continues to be a fully encompassing ministry of love and devotion.

While the encroaching years foretell a time in which we will no longer be able to maintain the lifestyle of past years, we nevertheless will never consider this a, “part-time” or “half-time” ministry.

These are terms I would love to see relegated to the dust bins of ancient history in Southern Baptist life. During the 40s and 50s these terms were much used in reference to churches that had half-time and quarter time preaching.

This did not mean they, therefore, had half-time or quarter-time ministers. In many of these churches the only contact with the pastor was on preaching Sunday.

As a past member and officer for many years of the Missouri Baptist Bivocational Ministers Association and an active member of the Southern Baptist Convention Bivocational Association. I have become acutely aware of the distinction made with use of the term bivocational rather than part-time or half-time.

If a Bivocational minister’s other job is full-time, then he has two full-time jobs, and is no less a minister of God in his secular setting than in his pastoral setting.

As pastor of the flock, whether fully funded or not, he is expected to minister to the bereaved, the sick, and afflicted, and attend and participate in a plethora of meetings.

Many of our pastors are Bivocational. Few are actually fully funded. At our Bivo Displays at the State and National Con-ventions, I loved to ask pastors who stated they pastored a full time church, “Oh, are you fully funded then?” If they an-swered yes, I would then ask whether their wife worked outside the home. Most responded yes, and I would then state, well you are not fully provided for by the church are you? Some do serve full time on half time pay but, the scriptures remind us the laborer is worthy his hire.

Keep us in your prayers. Pray for our churches, our association, and lost neighbors, our nation and its leaders. Many thanks to all who support this “Mission in your own backyard”.

Trenton First- Summer is almost over and fall is coming soon. Mission trips, VBS, and other ministries kept many in our church busy. August 23rd we were blessed to have Walter Plant minister to us. August 26th we served the BSU Luncheon at the NGR Mission center. The Keenagers had Ron MuCullough and Randy Campbell share about Hospice at the regular meeting on August 21st. September 2nd they will be going to Galt Café for breakfast and September 18th will be a wild game supper at the Ho-gan’s at 5 pm. We will begin AWANAS on Wednesday, September 9th. 6-7:30 pm. We will NOT have a weekly meal but will have a large family meal the end of every month. September 12th- our WMU is having a Worldcrafts Brunch Party at 10:30 am. All ladies in the association are invited.
