EDUCATION OF THE MIDDLE EASTERN YOUTH
Oh yeah, it’s gonna be big
By Emily Campbell and Olivia Cline
INTRODUCTION
Industrialization and warfare in the Middle East has a negative impact on children’s education.
This is due to child soldiers, destruction of schools, and fearful parents.
Children’s education wasn’t exactly perfect in the Industrial Revolution either.
PARENTS IN FEAR For a period of time parents feared their children’s
lives and would not let them go to school. Children who wanted to go to school sometimes
wouldn’t get to because of their parents. Some children still can’t go because of their
parents. It is because of warfare parents worried so much.
CHILD SOLDIERS
Some children under the age of 18 have been used as soldiers in some countries including Iraq.
Children soldiers about the age of seven have been spotted on the battlefield.
Children have been forced to be apart of the war by their government. In most cases they don’t have a choice.
It is this fighting that prevents children from attending school.
DESTRUCTION OF SCHOOLS
Schools have had to be closed during direct conflict.
Some have been blown up, and looted. Most are in such bad shape that going their isn’t possible.
It took five months for them to reopen, and there is a shortage of teachers and supplies. Some children are taught in tents, not even buildings.
BACK IN TIME….
Kids were also having less of an education in the Industrial Revolution.
The children were being forced to work in factories to support their families
Because of them having to work in the factories they missed out in a proper education
Kids as young as 8 were working 12 or more hours a day
A lot of the kids were killed in the factory
Cause Effect
War has destroyed schools, and buildings have been looted.
Children have had to go to school in tents without proper furniture or supplies.
It is dangerous to go outside, and people are afraid.
Parents have not been letting their children go to school, out of fear for their child.
Children are being used as soldiers in war.
Children cannot get a proper education if they are off in battle.
Dangerous, again. Schools have been closed and enrollment has been postponed.
