We use the word e-commerce to refer primarily to the digital enablement of transactions and processes within a firm, involving information systems under the control of the firm.

e-commerce include commercial transactions involving an exchange of value across organizational boundaries.

CHALLENGES FOR E-COMMERCE Cash on delivery is the

preferred payment mode.

Payment gateways have a

high failure rate.

Internet penetration is low.

Feature phone still rule the

roost.

Postal addresses are not standardised.

Indian customers return much of the merchandise they purchase online.

Logistic is a problem in thousands of Indian towns.

Overfunded competitiors are driving up cost of consumer acquasition.

Mobile commerce is any transaction, involving the transfer of ownership or

rights to use goods and services, which is initiated and completed by using mobile,PDA,smart phones etc……

or as a combination of all three….

Challenges for m-commerce Relevant primarily for urban

residents who already have

bank accounts and credit cards.

Lack of awareness.

Concerns about security.

Lack of simple,standardised

payment mechanism.

Imbalance between service providers and network operators.

Hetrogenous environment.

Small Screen size.

Speed concerns.
